That is very possible. But they kept the building white for Valentines and St. Patrick's day. I don't know why they would start for Memorial Day. Because I'm very sure they would light it up for all major holidays once it's opened. And the beacon wasn't on! That's the strangest part. I think they should start testing once the beacon's repaired, but maybe they're apprehensive that bad weather will come. (I'm taking a wild guess).

Remember, this building was once called (and sometimes still is) "The Freedom Tower."

I told you all, it's defective panels.

I wonder what the gaps are. Or if they are gaps.

To me, it looks like the wrong panels were installed; they look identical to the ones with which the mechanical floors are clad. There must be a better explanation.

I agree, they match the ones on the mechanical floors.

I did a little digging and Condé Nast’s vents are suppose to be on the north side of the tower, and probably on the 35th floor, so these mystery panels probably have nothing to do with them.

These panels are on what, the 88th floor, which is an office floor?

Perhaps they are some sort of emergency egress points...or a skybridge portal for a potential supertall to be built next door...or just a good old fashioned f**k up by the contractor who ran out of the proper ones and instead made up a couple in his garage one weekend and hoped that no-one will notice. I mean it is 88 stories up....

Those are indeed slotted panels, they are temporary and will be removed once mockup test is complete. Conde Nast will place them sometime this year on the north side of one one upper most floors leased, they will probably going to use one of the BMUs.

I went down to the memorial tonight and grabbed a few shots.

Although I do wish the corners were chamfered, I'm pleased with how well the podium blends in. I would even prefer the base LED's not be turned on except for special occasions. It looks great with the surrounding lights reflecting off of it already.

If the base was slightly illuminated with pinstripes I think it would look much more elegant and less bulky.

Also, I'm glad that Conde Nast will use venting that actually fits in with the design, and place it in a rarely seen area instead of putting some obtrusive black venting in plain view.

Those last photos really show why this is the most beautiful building worldwide being located in the best city on this planet!

Hugo Boss checking out 1 World Trade Center

By Steve Cuozzo
May 19, 2014

"Hugo Boss is trying on 1 World Trade Center for size, even as a media company’s breakthrough move to 4 World Trade Center appears all but sewn up.

The fashion giant is in “serious” talks with the Port Authority and the Durst Organization for 100,000 square feet of office space at 1 WTC, sources told Realty Check.

Hugo Boss is now headquartered at the Starrett-Leigh Building on far West 26th Street.

The Boss talks are just one of the major ongoing lease developments at the WTC. Technology company Percolate, a provider of online “content marketing software,” is also in talks for 50,000 square feet at 1 WTC — a negotiation believed to be farther along than for Hugo Boss..."
