The pictures that look like a render make the tower very different with the reflections from the other buildings

In case it wasn't mentioned before, but according to a PBS documentary, the spire was not cladded due to failures in wind tunnel tests.

That was a bunch of bullshit. There was a resign of the cladding to include stakes, but the media never covered that to not make Durst look bad. It was all due strictly so Durst could save a little bit of money.

Yeah, that's what I originally heard too. This documentary showed the cladded spire in the wind tunnel and it shook like crazy up top. It seemed kind of odd to me considering how thin it was yet with well reinforced steel (that we all can see) Seems like as you said, that there would be a way to clad it and dissipate the wind with venting or something.

It doesn't look good the way it is now.

Saying that durst only did it to save money is also a bullshit and baseless conspiracy theory. Not to mention you could actually see it sway in the videos of the wind test.

That video was showing the cladding before the stakes were added to the design, so an old test.

"Conspiracy Theory" is not the correct term usage. People throw that term around too much in situations it doesn't belong. But I do agree that Durst made a huge mistake not applying it to the final product. Fortunately it seems Durst is finally in trouble and his name will soon be booted out of this project for good. At least we can hope so.

I wonder when they will install the "One World Trade Center" sign on the South Entrance, seems they may do it soon as there are stairs leading to the top of it now..I wonder how many signs they will have for it too, also does anyone know if they plan on adding signs that direct you to the Trade Center on West Street like they used to when it opens?

Anyone have information regarding the status of window washing? I've seen some dramatic photos of the before-after just a week or so ago but I'm unsure of how it's progressed.

Not directly related to 1WTC but the section of Cortland Way next to 4WTC and the Church street side walk is now freely accessible.

ThatOneGuy himself is a conspiracy theorist so he loves using that term But I agree that money saving wasn't the only reason for this decision. However I am glad that this decision was made because in my opinion the spire would look too fat with the radome

Just so you know, there is still a whole row of podium panels to add once some progress is made on the entrance. The "garage doors" are not that tall.
