Great ; looks like a ******* museum. And sorry, but the podium does not look very open at all, there's the one small entrance compared to the whole wall of entrances with the old tower. The more details I see of this tower, the more I am disappointed. But at least it will still look good at a distance!

The inside is stunning though, looks like something out of the two thousand and 20's. I wonder what New York will look like then =P

I'm glad they made it all so clean without too much clutter and decorative stuff. Looks fresh and inviting.

At the reception desk, is that wood on the wall or is it marble?

In the rendering, it appears as wood panels.

The desk looks like wood, but behind the desk (the wall) it's like marble?

Directly behind the desk are vertical wood panels surrounded by marble panels.

No kidding. I just meant that, if you look at the original renderings for WTC7 from 2002, the design is pretty much the same as what was built. The designs for every other building changed drastically, and are still being changed. That's what I meant when I said WTC7's design stayed the same.

Indeed. In fact I think he managed to get the double payout that he wanted by counting the two aircraft as separate incidents. For all intents and purposes the guy is flush with cash and if the government would but-out he'd have this thing moving like a freight train.
It would seem that way, but not so. The judge DID rule that each attack on each tower be treated as two different attacks, which would have doubled his $3.55 billion all-risk policy to $7.1 billion, but Silverstein hadn't yet signed all the papers for his insurance policies when the attacks happened, so many of the 24 insurers got out of having to pay double (I THINK some got out of having to pay anything). As a result, when all was said and done, he received only $4.6 billion in insurance. But in June of this year, the Port Authority announced that the entire site was budgeted at $15 billion, with the head of the PA saying he believed it would go up to $16.5 billion. Of course, that's for the entire site... Silverstein is only responsible for Towers 2-4, about half or maybe 2/3rds of the site. Still, that's way more than the insurance money he received. $10 or so billion in costs? $4.6 billion in insurance? Not exactly "flush with cash".

I didn't realize that Silverstein only had access to his insurance payouts and no other forms of cash or loans. He has the ability to get this done right if the PA would back off. I'm also getting tired of hearing about the NYPD wanting to turn Lower Manhattan into a fortress. Yet another way to run up the costs and allow the government to mess up the project.

OK but we were talking about the location of the freedom tower. Does that have nothing to do with the topic? Just asking a question.

If you have ever walked through the lobbies of any skyscrapers in New York, you'll notice that they all look like this......

... This building will be the tallest all-office building in the world, along with being apart of the largest office complex on the planet with nothing being close. However, this scraper is like an overrated athlete that just won't live up to the media bs.

...and can we please change the thread name to 1 WTC like on SOM's website.
