That's the Goldman Sachs World Headquarters under construction.

In a few years, that view will look completely different with a brand new World Trade Center complex with a brand new transit center and memorial park.

In every picture of the WTC, before the Twins, after the Twins, and now during construction, the Verizon building is always overlooking everything.

Man, if that building could talk, it would have tons to say.

Haha I was just thinking the same thing the other day. It's seen so much and it's still standing proud.

Okay, then you must be blind or looking at the wrong pages, since it's above grade.

I can't believe Verizon is still standing after 9/11. It is a good piece of architecture for the 30's, but it looks very out of place! What is the building on the other side of WTC 7? That would be a prime site for a tower.

Having a mix of old skyscrapers and new skyscrapers is one of the things that makes New York unique! It and Chicago are the only two cities with such a unique blend. Places like Dubai with all new building look bland compared to New York. Everything possible needs to be done to insure that old buildings and architectural styles are preserved.

That's true. You can explore the city and discover the history of skyscraper building.

I agree with you, just said it looks very out of place. Not a criticism. People here in the UK are far too over protective of old buildings, such stupid 5 storey victorian terraced houses in City Centers, which groups say should stay there rather than having a skyscraper on them. And they're horrendous looking. People moan about skyscrapers proposed being built on derelict land here, ''ruins the area' and they get ''lack of sunlight''

Anyway, I should be visiting New York next year, how high 1WTC be you reckon?

Maybe two metres above ground level.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it already passed that mark.

I'm sure than in one year most of the base will have taken shape.
