There will be officials on office entrance checking for IDs.

Wow, apparently turnstiles are not enough at the elevator banks.

That's ridiculous. They need to tone it down with all this security. Is a concrete bunker/turnstiles really not enough? Give me a break.

to be fair, people are more reliable than machines. Are we really going to complain about something that doesn't concern us and is probably routine to most it would concern?

I mean I agree to an extent. I personally think the lobby should have been open completely like it used to be, we can't live in fear forever, but that's beating a dead horse and it is what it is. I witnessed 9/11 first hand from literally across the street so I personally understand how horrific that day was...but that doesn't mean we need to put everything at the site on lockdown. That's all I'm saying. I'll let you all know how annoying it really is (if at all, who knows) when I visit a close friend who will be working there in the coming weeks/months.

This is pretty standard around the city. Con Ed, Google, IBM, any of the major banks, all of their offices are like this.

In other news, it is a very high possibility Durst will open up the West Lobby to allow pedestrians to enter the West Concourse once the tower opens to tenants.

Yes but they also don't have the worlds most prestige security technology watching peoples every move. The amount of security at the trade center is overkill, but that's just my opinion. It is what it is.

Good, they should. That would make sense.

Anyway, interesting article here. For once I agree with Durst, this would be beneficial to the tower. More opportunities for even more companies to make a home in 1WTC. It would be cool to see a large range of different occupants like the Twins had.

PA to Vote on 1 WTC Pre-Built Expansion Wednesday

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey will vote on a proposal Wednesday to invest an additional $23.5 million into the Durst Organization‘s pre-built program for smaller office spaces at 1 World Trade Center, according to a board meeting agenda posted on the agency’s website last week.

The proposal would pay for one full additional floor of divided spaces under 20,000-square-feet plus multi-tenant renovations on 10 floors in the building with an octagonal floor plan and plates between 32,000 and 48,000 square feet, according to the agency. Recent leases for Cushman & Wakefield, the Westfield Corp., Legends Hospitality and BMB Group in spaces ranging from 2,191 square feet to 12,000 square feet show the success of the approach in the 3-million-square foot skyscraper, said Jordan Barowitz, Durst’s director of external affairs.

“The program is being expanded because of market demand,” Mr. Barowitz said. “There’s considerable interest in built-to-suit and pre-built space.”

The $21 million initial phase of the program sponsored by the WTC landlord agency and implemented by its joint equity partner converted two floors into pre-built suites and provided for three other floors of multi-tenant uses, according to the agency. The 45th and 46th floors offer available spaces from 1,777 square feet to 8,590 square feet, according to a marketing brochure on Durst’s 1 WTC website. Durst plans to open the building officially in the next few weeks.

I don't think so, there are several areas on B2 level that are still under construction, including Legends Observation Deck Lobby and retail.

Workers are eliminating (Finally) the white "dots" on the last glasses installed. They've been a thorn in the back of my head every time I looked at the tower.
