I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd say they did a pretty decent ******* job. Very proud of all the hard work they have accomplished. After all the years of delays this Tower is finally something real to all of us now. Sure it can never replace what was lost, but it can be a new symbol, a symbol of hope and resilience, that good things come to those who wait and boy did we sure wait.....

I was going to post some photos of the base as I walked by today but I can't beat those photos taken by NYguy above.

I've got such mixed feelings about the podium and the tower as a whole. By itself, the podium is spectacular, but it doesn't seem to to gel as well with the rest of the tower (maybe it's the glass?). Of course, I was also more a fan of the chamfered edges of the podium before it was removed in the design. I thought it helped make the podium and tower more cohesive (in terms of the podium mimicking the triangular lines of the tower).

I think it would have been amazing if they clad the tower in the same cladding style as the former twins, with thin aluminum columns reaching the top of the tower. Then it would have really looked like the twin towers merged into one building.

That was merely a test. Still some minor work to do in terms of wiring up the panels. It should be on permanently the night of the opening onward.

The amount of cameras around the site is mind boggling, especially for just 1 WTC...
