Why do people get so upset about people calling this building Freedom Tower? Seriously? I find it more annoying when people complain about people who call it Freedom Tower. So what?

I have news for you. That "iconic" skyline has been subject to change for the past 100 years it has been evolving. And with the new supertalls rising on 57th street, you can expect megatalls in the near future. It's going to happen whether you like it or not. That's just New York. And I think it is rather absurd and arrogant to assert that a new megatall would ruin the skyline. I wonder how many people shared your opinion when the Empire State Building was going up. (Surprisingly a lot of people)

I just realized the The Wall Street Journal article had already been posted, so I'll just leave the link to the article and continue with another article. Sorry.

http://blogs.wsj.com/developments/20...remony-is-tbd/

Now, a related article from The New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/24/ny...onth.html?_r=0

Quote:
Condé Nast Moving Into 1 World Trade Center Next Month

One World Trade Center will welcome its first tenant, the publisher Condé Nast, on Nov. 1, the real estate firm in charge of leasing the building said on Thursday.

The publisher will occupy 1.1 million square feet, about a third of the 104-story skyscraper, which is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

Jordan Barowitz, a spokesman for the Durst Organization, which oversees the construction, leasing and maintenance of the building through a partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, confirmed the move-in date.

The building stands on the site where nearly 2,800 people were killed in the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. The site is also home to the National September 11 Memorial Museum.

The move means that about 2,300 Condé employees will be moving to a neighborhood that some thought would not recover from the attacks. The workers will arrive in several phases between November and February 2015.

Condé’s decision to move downtown turned heads and may prompt others to consider same move. Restaurants, salons and major fashion labels have been angling for new homes near the World Trade Center, following the workers whose wages and expense accounts have buoyed their businesses in Midtown Manhattan for years.
Surprisingly, this article contradicts the one from The Wall Street Journal, which said the moving date was Nov. 3.

The base lighting is outstanding. Definitely the best redesign of the tower.

The spire LED's could still use some improving, mainly at the base.

I have news for you, my opinion is that it would ruin the skyline right now. I could care less who agrees with me or not, or what people said about the Empire State Building. Also it is the most iconic city so no need for the quotation, that is just a fact. I've lived in New York my entire life im pretty sure I know it's a constantly evolving city. So take a seat.

I dont think Paris is dying. with or without a supertall, she will never lose her glory

BUT WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??
Seems to be hard for u to understand me!Be honest!NY is not anymore THE inspiration for skyscrapers around the world.Someone like Steven Holl who is imo a great genius works mainly in China and Frank Gehry or t Mayne are under-represented in NY!
Historically,NY is THE skyscrapercity and you dare writing that a 2000 feet would ruin her identity?Come on!!
About Paris, did i call for any supertall?I was talking about innovation and yes Paris is dying(i was born there and know what i talk about)
Faster, bigger, higher:that's New York!If you want a clean, formated, laid back city come and have a Bud with me in beautiful Malibu!
New York,je t'aime à la folie!!

Again, the fact still remains true, regardless of your opinion, a megatall is inevitable for the city.

I never said it wasn't going to happen, I said we don't need them regardless because we don't. Let it go.

Those who don't know NY would be stunned to see the extreme level of detail on the sea of low rise buildings that are visible in that awesome photo.
