Thanks for sharing your pics. Everytime I see One WTC from the angle of that first picture, it reminds me of the North Tower! Thats one of the things I love about this building. It has its own unique design, but at the same time from certain angles it resembles the former towers. Remarkable.

I still can't understand, why 1WTC's cladding hasn't been cleaned yet. It looks horrible, like a patchwork or sth.

Its beautiful but, with respect, two towers where needed to re compose the original skyline. It seems the one missing makes the scenario incomplete.

No matter how many towers they build, none can equal the symbolical nature and strenght of the Twin Towers. For me, there's just no match.

I feel the same way, but at the same time I think the new towers are a good replacement for what was lost.

Several years ago, I thought the new towers would be a good replacement but now that I've seen the whole site get depleted (or even redesigned) and get turned into an average building complex, I can say I'm a little underwhelmed.

This wasn't the kind of project that should have allowed a ''Let's go for the cheaper way'' attitude IMO. You're building a multi-billion, multi-building complex that is supposed (hopefully) to last much more than 27 years and also become an american icon of such status, to replace the gap from the Twin Towers.

For me, unfortunately, this site will just not cut it.

I completely understand what you mean. I'm upset with all of the design changes this site has endured over the year as well. But IMO I think it will still turn out great when everything is finally completed. I think One WTC is gorgeous.

Sorry, but nothing can top this view. Compare the two majestic towers of WTC with the single one.

Interesting there was this project which did not go through.

I agree nothing can beat the twins that once stood at the site, but I think the new WTC is beautiful too. One WTC takes my breath away when I see it in person. I think it's beautiful. By the way, when the new WTC project is complete there will be five new towers(six if 5 WTC ever ends up being built), not just a single one. Towers 1, 4, and 7 are already complete and 3 WTC is on its way up.

That picture that you shared actually won the competition, but George Pataki reversed the decision made by the LMDC and went with Daniel Libeskind for the master plan.

Good news.

I remember reading once that Pataki said the new twin tower project would somehow affect the resting place of many who suffered the attacks and so went forward with D. Libesking.

The fact that the Twin Towers will never be rebuilt or that it wasn't even a thought for countless people that took care of this project, is a thing that will probably haunt me for the rest of my life.

One of the largest scaled mistakes in human existence, no doubts.
