Oh, okay.

On another note... I think it's really cool, that 1WTC is now starting to show up very prominently on one movie poster after another. The Twin Towers have been part of movie posters so many times over the decades, that it's more than overdue to present the new tower more often.

The newest examples are:
- "The Secret Life of Pets" 1WTC is taking more or less center stage in the background and is very clearly visible. Here you can see the poster.
- "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" Here we have two posters with the tower. The first one is a group shot with the Turtles. They are sitting on the Chrysler Building and in the background there is the ESB and further down 1WTC. The second one, and this is really great, is a character poster for Raphael. He is standing on the left side on another tower and to his right there is very large 1WTC. It is actually so huge in this poster, that I'm not sure what the want to sell to us... the movie with fighting turtles or the tower.

Like I said, I think it's fantastic it shows up so often now. Can't wait to see what comes next.
LOL I like how the windows are dirty in the last one. Just like real life!

Yeah, I caught that too. I think it gives the poster a real authentic look... if you don't count the big turtle of course.

But I have to say I think it's a little sad that the windows look like this in real life. How often do they get cleaned? I think I read somewhere they do a big clean up twice a year?! How come there are so often these lines across the facade? Are they cleaning certain areas on request by companies that have their offices there? If it weren't for these cleaned areas it wouldn't be that obvious, that the rest is dirty, I think.

Judging by how the glass is cleaner where the elevator shaft uses to be,I'd say the tower has still not been completly cleaned. I do remember that they commenced cleaning with the upper facade but must of halted the progress after the incident where two window washers nearly died.

These were taken early May, phone pics I know, but thought some of you might like it.

This one, imo, is the money shot, the one angle the designers had in mind. The building seems to be endless, it's right up there in the sky. I absolutely love it (although it'd be better had I moved a few metres to the left)

from Battery Park

and from the boat between Liberty and Ellis islands

Wow. The first one from Battery Park is so beautiful. I LOVE that picture. Congratulations for finding the perfect spot for a perfect picture. :-) Very well done.

Hey guys, I have a short question for all of you who have been at the observatory and took their cameras. On the official page they say "no professional cameras" are allowed, but what exactly does "professional" mean?

We are visiting NYC next month and I would like to know beforehand what is allowed and what is not.

This is the camera we want to use.
Nikon D5000 with the following lenses: 35 mm, 50 mm, 18-55 mm and 50-200 mm.

So does anybody know if there will be a problem with this equipment? The same goes for the ESB by the way, so if someone knows about that too I would appreciate the heads up.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I saw plenty of "pro" Cameras up there when I went up in January with my Nikon D5200 with all my Lenses , 10-20mm , 18-55mm , 18-105mm , 55-300mm... I wasn't to impressed with the observation deck which feels very gimmicky and a waste of money... Empire State building which is outside is better or Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange which you can view most of the region from along with having a nicer and more peaceful 9/11 memorial... Its only a 25min ride by train to Orange Station from Hoboken Terminal and 5min Uber or taxi up to the reservation...

I visited NYC last summer and went to the Observatory... I actually loved it. I've been to the ESB and Top of the Rock before. The Observation Deck at the new One WTC is by far my favorite. That's just my personal opinion though.
