I still wish they had kept the original base shape, it made the building look a bit more interesting. IMO

$6 Billion paid by NYC tax payers and Port Authority of NY and NJ for this building alone.

The view from the near space looks unusual (as of today, tomorrow the Bluesky GIS imagery can be updated): wikimapia.org/#lat=40.713&lon=-74.013&z=20

Looks like the communication rings are finally being made useful.

Is there any information when the temporary loading dock on the east side will be removed? From what is visible on the live cams from Liberty Park I would think the Vehicle Security Center is done and working, isn't it? So my question is, when are they removing the temporary loading dock and finish 1WTC? Does anyone know?

I like the stark and rough industrialism with the crown. Speaking of which, when are they going to finally start utilizing the communications ring?

Well the second image from the last picture post shows they already installed one satellite dish.
My question would be: is there really a need for this communications ring, anyway? I mean there wasn't one all these years and I would think New York managed the technical need in other ways. So why would they need one now?

Apart from this I got used to the look of the spire by now and have to say I really like it the way it is... I mean without the radome. I watched part one of the documentary "Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero" the other day and they had all these beautiful renderings and animations from the whole complex. Of course at that time they still thought the radome was a thing. Every time I saw the spire I just thought "luckily they didn't build that". I got so used to the spire's shape, that I would not want the initial version at all.
What I would like to see is the white cladding, like they did on the upper part, done on the whole spire. But I know it's not going to happen and I like the spire the way it is, so that's fine with me.

That white cladding is actually antennas for tv broadcasting. They're going to be able to move some stations back to their home after occupying the ESB after 9/11. Quite something special.
