The picture is so pretty. The colors look good in combination with the colorful Observatory. Is that the normal color scheme for the observation deck at night? Can't remember seeing it like that before.

Last weekend I stumbled upon this collage on the official website for 1WTC: Collage 1WTC
What caught my eye was the picture on the bottom left. It's a rendering for the yet to be completed east entrance. I was surprised, since I never saw that picture before and it looks really nice.
Hopefully they speed up the demolition for the temp loading dock. Do you guys think this litte terrace and the entrance can be finished before the PAC? I hope the PAC construction site does not keep 1WTC from being finished any longer. It's about time this beautiful tower is all done.

I just stumbled upon a picture of the lobby which confuses me a little. Please take a look at this The Artists of One World Trade Center and go to page 30-31. The picture description says it is the south lobby, but the escalator going down at the end can't possibly be in this location. If this is supposed to be the south lobby, the facing wall would be to the west. But in reality the west side looks like this (looking north east) and there is no escalator at all.
Could it be, that the picture in the "book" is really the north lobby looking towards the east side? At least it would match this plan.

Are these escalators on the east side already useable? Where are they leading to? And in general: Is it possible to commute through the lobby from 1WTC if you don't have business to attend to in the tower itself?

I would love to see these beautiful lobby in person someday. With the old WTC, from all these videos and pictures, you get the feeling that the lobby area was an open place where everyone could go everywhere. Now with all those security in suits I didn't even dare to go to close to the normal lobby entrances. I always got the feeling of "If you don't have business to attend to, stay away".

Has anyone of you guys ever been inside the lobby?

Even Condé Nast are upset over the dirty windows on the tower. Port Authority and Durst are doing a horrible job managing this building.

That's the design flaw. If if had this design, such problems would be avoided.

You made it unclear whether it was an acclamation, or reprehension.

There is no design flaw. It's taking them ages to fix the window washing system; they say by the end of summer.

No need in playing semantics. You know what he meant.

All that postmodern garbage that's considered art. What happened to real art?

I can´t believe there is so much bullshit of "art" in the lobby of a 4 billion dollar building.

I hate to say it, but the lobby is hideous.
It's nothing but a massive plain white marble lobby.
I understand the safety concerns, but compared to the beautiful lobby of the Twin Towers, or other office buildings in the area.

I think the safety measurements are ridiculous on the World Trade site.

Should have built the Twin Towers again. I was so hyped for this New WTC Complex a decade ago but it is becoming more and more disappointing with each passing year. The mess that is WTC 2, the details taken away, no spire, problems after problems, 1 WTC looking dirtier than a pig in mud. Plus the buildings seem to disappear in the skies, whereas the Twin Towers would stand out no matter the hour and weather.

Really a wasted opportunity.

Looks fairly cheaper than any average of the recently completed supertalls in China.
