The red pieces are the climbing assembly being installed on the south crane. Must be preparing to jump the south crane. Check out Davis Group website for demo of jump process, very interesting.

This will take some 20 years to build if the core rises at this pace, when is it going to shoot up??

it'll rise faster when the whole construction is above street-level.

It can be the climbing assembly, that as to be already a round the base of the crane to support it. It would also be extremely difficult to say the least to put it around the crane now. I believe it actually is part of the boom for another crane for the memorial.

Thanks! I don't see any reason to be nasty to anybody, when the facts will make my points for me.

By PATH terminal, do you mean transit hub? While its construction affects many facets of construction on the site, there's relatively little interaction between the Freedom Tower and the transit hub. What's slowing them down is the PATH tunnel, which runs directly under the Freedom Tower on the edge of the site. The scheduled PATH closures next year will allow them to complete construction over the tunnel. By the time the Freedom Tower is completely above street level, the PATH tunnel won't be a concern, because it will be buried under several stories.

I'm glad that this picture was posted.
I too was one of those who said "why is this so slow"
(but I was not stupid enough to post it)
This picture shows lots of construction.

I can understand if someone gets angry about complaints.
The amount of emotion involved with anything about
the "ground zero" site is tremendous.

Good to see it rising despite the economic slowdown.

Spire/no spire...
who really cares...
The fact that these buildings are rising, that is what is important!!!

People who say that progress is slow don't look at webcam pictures but visit ground zero and see nothing above ground and asume that virtually nothing happens.

Exactly. The parts of the construction that are visually dramatic are such a small part of the overall process.

You call that a lot of progress for 19 months! Get real guys and stop being cheerleaders for the political and bureaucratic nightmare that is the WTC site. What a joke.
