I think they're doing that right now, there's red thing that makes the crane jump installed on top of south core.

no that red thing is to secure crane to the core itself, the same one was placed when cranes first were installed.

They are also removing the first parts of the ramp (upper part)! Lots of activity at the moment, already looking forward to the next years of construction with the possibility to watch all the steps through the webcam!

The Red section is attached to the base structure. New crane segments are added inside this and jacked upward...see the hydraulic rams on each side....a climbing crane like the ones used for the original WTC back in the 60's.....I think they used to call them Favco kangaroo cranes because we invented the system here in Australia.

It's good to see the crane rising. It may be sign that the core will rise soon.

Thank you for the diagram WebEagle.

I lost the link, but Federated Crane has a superb video of the process. A key item missing from this diagram is the second base, there are 2. The crane sits on the bottom one (which is braced against the walls of the elevator shaft/core), raises the upper base 2 floors, the upper base braces itself against the walls, then the lower section is freed and pulled up.

Bottom bracing rig in place ( 155 N Wacker dr. Chicago )

Collar for top rig, note how it is seprated from the bottom brace.

Climbint up ( 353 N Clark st. Chicago )
