I'm really amazed at the progress on the ramp. News articles quoted that it would take at least a month. If they keep up this pace it'll be taken done by thursday or friday. I'm sure their will be some additional clean up as well. But man, wow!

Don't forget the concrete foundations underneath the columns, they have to be removed as well

Excellent process! So once the ramp removed, they will start working on Memorial Park and waterfall/fountain right?

They're already well under construction. I suspect by the next anniversary of 9/11, most of the steel and floors should be complete. After that they'll be working on the museum and all the detail work.

I hardly see any construction process for memorial park and waterfall/fountain area only see construction process for Freedom Tower, retail center, and other towers from the pictures.

I want to see a picture of how ground zero looked immediately after the clean up of the debris after 9/11 ... I think it would be interesting to compare the picture with its current state.

The memorial construction only began on September 2nd of this year, just a little over 3 months ago, but already there has been enormous progress. From what I've heard, the steel installation for the entire memorial park except for the small area over the PATH platforms will be completed in June 2009. The steel decking will be completed by September 2009. Concrete pouring will begin this month and will be completed by the 2nd quarter of 2010. Then the finishing touches for the memorial (tree planting, cobblestone installation, waterfall construction, etc.) will begin, with the memorial opening on the 10th anniversary, September 11th, 2011.

It's going to be a lot of fun watching all the construction on the webcams thoughout 2009. People and media will still gripe and moan about how this is all late and behind schedule. But you won't be able to deny all the progress made. I can't wait to see the full outline of the former WTC footprints.

can somebody with smart brain tell me what is being installed at the north-east part of the site? (the white/grey thing laid on the floor) I haven't even a hope of making up what it is...

That are corrugated steel floor plates. They are laid on top of the steal beams over the PATH tracks. Once installed they'll pour concrete on top of the plates. The combination of steel plates with concrete makes a strong light weight floor. They are using the same technique for the memorial

i'm so glad to finally see the ramp start to come down. for some reason, that has always been the symbol in my mind of the slow progress at the site.

I have some photos that i'll post asap. I keep forgetting that the PATH loop, and part of the street level area of the station is against/on top of the irt broadway line. Anyone interested in seeing freaky views of the site, ride the 1 back and forth and PATH too. No cameras on PATH.
