I understand the situation of the building site. Being a rail historian i think this construction is somewhat unremarkable compared to the first one when the tubes were suspended by cables from braces and the terminal was relocated from under the hudson terminal buildings to where they are now.

I think once the base is complete it will speed up a bit, but until the platforms are covered by permanent structure it may be slow going since they wil not be protected in the event of something falling.

They really need to get the west plaza finished. Once they have two of the big red cranes working simultaneously things should theoretically speed up. To me it's just laughable that some forum members think 1 perimeter column a day, a little steel around the cores, and a couple floor plates is "great" daily progress. If they're ever to build an entire 40,000 square foot floor a week then we need to see much more done on a given day.

The top floors are 145'x145' which is 21,000 square feet, so even those are pretty big. Also you need to take into account that's over a thousand feet up, so it'll take longer to transport materials up that high. A floor a week is going to be tough. More likely two or even three weeks.

Also keep in mind they are currently working on the massively reinforced base floors and structural support columns that will bear the weight of the tower. Once they get past this stage the floorprint of the standard office floors will be largely (although not exactly) the same and at the same time the concrete core will be able to rise smoothly. It will be a much faster process compared to what we are seeing now.
If there is one thing this project has taught us, it's patience.

The Earthcam sux. I understand wind and rain. I also do not believe the camera is a simple unit like something that sits on top of an indoor computer...lol. How about a high def camera that sits inside a steel box with a plexiglass cover on the front? You know something that can broadcast a picture 24/7/365 with no major failures? How many times in the last month has this thing: 1) pointed at dirt 2) no updates, the same picture all day or 3) today, blank.

Can someone please xplain why it is so difficult???

It looks like a security camera; it isn't a simple at home webcam.

Not huge, just very strong! This building is the most over designed building ever built. Of course because of this is also one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive building ever built if you consider the cost per square foot.

It's a pretty big building, at its roof Freedom Tower should be ticker than any other skyscraper out there.
