There's always rebar in concrete. How much depends on how strong it needs to be, and how well it is being supported from below.

I still cant get over the size of those beams, there huge, i wonder how long they took to fabricate, and more how long to transport from NJ to lower Manhattan.

The proposed performing arts center. is it similar sized footprint of 1WTC?

I thought of this thats all;

7WTC would loose its view though, doubt anything like this would ever happen, but its inspiring.

That's definitely awe inspiring!

The only thing that would make it better would be if the buildings themselves were actually 1776' tall and those ugly hypodermic needles were gone!

LOL, "hypodermic needle", is the name of the stupid tower we had built in my city back in 2000, looks like shit now, and is earning a loss a decade later from failed tourism.

1776ft for the roof height and 2001ft for the spire height would of been more fitting as well as symbolic, i think this idea has been mentioned several times on this very thread. Would be great though.

You're right, they did take it apart but then put it back together with a longer jib and shorter main boom.
It can now lift higher, with greater reach, but with reduced capacity.
