The pic shows a one foot long sample.

it comes in 20' or 24' lengths and is usually cut to size before being delivered to the job site. They come in either 2 foot or 3 foot widths.
It also echoes through the cavernous museum levels when you walk on it. I know first hand! lol

The core steel is up to the fourth floor, the perimeter columns are just above the 3rd floor and the Plenum wall columns are up to the bottom of the fourth floor.

There is a trick to walking on the stuff, keep your strides to either 10" or 20" and you'll land on the top of the rib.

I have a scar, covered by my beard, from taking a fall while walking across decking. Dang near ate a shear stud.

WTF...
2 towers and 2 stumps aint such a good thing to represent what's replacing what were 2 of the worlds most iconic structures!

My boss asked me about Earthcam for our facilities yesterday. I showed him the month old WTC picture they're trying to pass off as live. We decided to put up our own.
That cam is losing them business, as it should if it's indicative of the quality of their product.

Thanks to all you guys keeping us up to date with your own pictures.

Yes- it has a HUGE core.
But it depends on the plane. I don't think that any skyscraper can survive this thing:

This tower will eat planes for breakfast.

I am pretty sure every A380 has skymarshalls aboard them.....and besides there are 800 passengers....very hard to hijack that plane....

Anyway, if a smaller plane (which is like anything but boeing 747 and airbus 380) crushes into it it probably won't fall down like the twin towers, but it will probably be demolished because of the damage.

In all honesty, I believe no skyscraper can survive an airplane crash similar to the 9/11 Attack. The Twin Towers were warriors to the end because what's amazing is how the Towers remained standing after the impact even though the design indicated a Boeing 707 slamming into it lost in the fog at a slow speed. It did better than Leslie E. Robertson envisioned and for that it saved people trying to escape. Unfortunately I wish the people trapped above the impact zones had a chance but it never happened. The Freedom Tower's core will be much stronger than the original Twin Towers core. Then again the World Trade Center's core was mostly steel and wasn't nearly as strong as the external columns, which was the strength of the building to bear the loads.
