The current shots really give you a feel for why things have taken so long. That is truly a massive amount of work that has been done.

If you are talking about big red it has moved. A lot of steel went up in the southwest corner of the site over the PATH tracks this weekend.

It's incredible how slow this construction is...At this pace, the whole Freedom Tower project will be completed in 5 to 6 years...
It will be awesome though, sure it's worth waiting...

Subway Sandwich Shop To Be Built Atop WTC Crane

If anything ever turns out getting built at the World Trade Center site, please let it be this. Next month, workers are planning to construct a Subway sandwich shop atop a crane at Ground Zero — newly dubbed Ground Hero by the Post — so that hardhats can enjoy their $5-footlongs without having to descend from the Freedom Tower.

The sandwich shop will be built into a shipping container-like structure with a bathroom and offices for project managers, and it will rise floor by floor with the workers until it reaches the 105th story — "roughly the height of the old Twin Towers, or about as high as the former Windows on the World restaurant was," the tabloid reports.

"This will allow construction workers to stay in the tower throughout their shift rather than having to go up and down," said Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman. That might be a good thing, because Ground Zero hardhats were spotted boozing during their lunch-breaks this summer.

A simple "Please get back on topic" would've sufficed. Jesus, you need an attitude adjustment.

Not that it matters, I think I'm already on your infamous "ignore list".

Anyways... lots of progress the last few days. More steel on the west side of 1WTC. The south fountain steel is coming along, and the SW corner memorial steel is up to grade.

I was told that another crawler crane was going to be placed this winter at the eastern end of Fulton Street to help build the transit hub, when I was on the construction site a couple months back. I'm not a worker though, so there's still a lot of stuff I'm puzzled about.

The Calatrava arches do seem too weak to support such a massive crane (especially when it's also holding arches for the hub mezzanine), but my guess is that they'll use some kind of temporary, horizontal beams extending from the new wall that just went up along the northern end of the memorial to the wall at the very southern end of 1WTC... similar to the temporary beams that are now supporting the crawler cranes over the west and east plazas). I think that's what he meant when he was saying that the new wall was to allow for the third crawler crane.

I'm not sure why they need another crawler so this all doesn't make any sense to me. I know they will use that road to stage supply's, etc... other than that, I have no clue what else is going there.

A quote from the below article,

http://www.downtownexpress.com/de_32...einleader.html

"Brathwaite also provided the board with an update on W.T.C. construction. Before the end of the year, a new crane will arrive on the eastern half of the site to move steel trusses into place for the Santiago Calatrava-designed PATH hub. Rising five-and-a-half stories, the crane will be the largest on the site to date, because it will have to carry steel all the way from Church St. into the center of the site.

“It is absolutely massive,” Brathwaite said. "
