And unlike Dubai, the United States still manages to pay its debts.

Well actually, the US debt is $39102 per citizen versus $35366 per citizen in Dubai

But to be ontopic, personally I think itís going really fast the past months. Perhaps thatís the beauty of such a big construction side, every day there is something new to see

On what data do you base this information? Can you quote exact reference or maybe a link to the data? From what I heard, USA's debt has exceeded 20 trillion in toxic assets which means the average liability for an american citizen would be approximately $67000 per citizen

Wind advisory until 12 for New Jersey, which is probably the same for New York.

Yes, they do work 24/7 in 3 shifts, holidays are an exception.
You're right about the slave camp and candy store, but the US is less free every day and the bureaucratic BS that goes on in this country and in this case, involving the construction and development process, is absurd and an abomination. There is no doubt that without government's oppressiveness, these towers would be completed by now.

A lot of new construction in Dubai and even China is superficial, but they seem to have more drive than we do. They have something to prove. We just drag things along concerned more about justifying stupid government jobs, political correctness and media grandstanding than actually acting like a leader and showing the rest of the world we aren't going away.

The US is the most powerful and prosperous country in the world, and we have plenty of buildings being built! Would you rather be a slave in China or the UAE or actually have a good chance of being succsessful in the US?

True i'm sorry for getting out of the topic but when you see ignorant americans insulting the rest of the world and speaking nonsense in an international forum it is hard not to say anything.

Hmm...I've seen comments like this similar on US Airforce/Military Youtube videos, nationalistic rhetoric. Heard it all before

The site looks so vast and huge, hope to see this one sprining up.

Oh god enough with the politics you guys. If you're American and want to prove yourself to the world, don't bash other countries.

Burj Dubai was designed by Adrian Smith from Chicago based SOM, also constructed by South Korean's Samsung, and the Belgian company Besix. Arabtec, the only Arab construction company involved, also participated. The construction was managed by an American company called Turner Construction.

BD may have been paid for by Dubai (Emaar), but there's a lot of American and other countries fingerprints on it.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Now let's get back on topic.

The south fountain steel and decking is coming along well. Should be finished in a couple of months. Also a lot more south side perimeter steel has been installed. Building out the floors is getting a little quicker each time they build one.

Anymore off-topic discussion and politics by the next member will result in a brig for 3 days, no joke. Make a new thread, discuss that elsewhere.

Does anyone know how tall the original 6WTC was? I know it was 8 stories but I can't find the actual number of feet/meters anywhere. Just wondering since I'm sure the new 1WTC (which sits on the site of the original 6WTC) is either approaching the same height as it or may have already surpassed it.
