There were several perimeter columns installed today. 1 in the NW corner, and 2 or 3 on the west side. The inner ring of steel was also added on the west side. A lot of steel was lifted up for the 5th floor in the NW corner. Not a bad days work.

I'd like them to see them install the decking in the SW memorial corner though. That's been ready for weeks now. Also, it'd be nice if they did more work on the south pool steel. I can't wait till we see both pools.

There is an article in today's Star-Ledger about the company doing the steel fabrication for Tower One and part of Tower Four and the Transit hub.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/200...l_plant_f.html

They also make the booms and tower sections for the tower cranes.

They are also making the Subway shop ! (end of the article)

it just looks like a lamp is lighting up the interior. At most it could be sparks from welding.

Looks like they should be done with the steel on the current level sometime by the end of the week at the current rate (hopefully!). Then all the corners will be ready for the new connection nodes. Such good progress!

Just wondering how far behind the core is from the current steelwork progress. Does anyone know when the next big pour will be for the core?

Sorry if this seems like a bit of an amateur question, but is it normal for the core to lag behind the progress of the steelwork?

Not really. In most buildings the core is several stories higher than the steel during construction.

This is an amazing shot. The grand canyon of skyscrapers. 1WTC looks like such a monster off in the distance.
