I totally agree, it's a surreal shot.

that section of Manhattan will be the La Defense of NYC.

You have the
- 4 WTC towers that are under construction or proposed
- the new Goldman Sachs Tower
- the already complete 7 WTC
- 123 washington street
- a new building to replace the Douche Bank building

- and the World Financial center buildings.

So many new buildings.....

You forgot to mention the Beekman Place tower, the buildings that are currently on hold like 50 west street that will resume construction onde day and so on. And we dont know whats already planned for lower manhattan what will be released maybe next year. Than we have to add the transformation of the wetst street from a highway to a grand boulevard. Lower Manhattan will be so much cooler than it already is in just 5 years, cant wait.

Eight inches of snow in Albany right now. Looks like they only got rain in Manhattan though.

I know it is off topic, but it is close.... is there a thread for the proposed development of the Deutsche Bank building? I am trying to work out how the whole downtown area will look when this is finished?

Thank you for that Dino... rather eye opening... The massing of this building is incredible, it seems so large when you are down there, and that illustration really helps us see exactly how large...

I've never seen it in person, unfortuntely, but lookin' forward to see it one day...But it's obvious that it's huge...And when you see all those massive beams and all that steel, it looks like the modern fortress...The fortress of freedom...And as the base has "cuted" corners, looks like it provocate principles of the stability...

Okay, I just went and watched a video I shot from inside the museum on the level immediately below where that gap is and think I have the answer for both of your questions. First, on the level below, there was a line of pieces of rebar sticking up from the floor, exactly beneath those that appear to be "hung down" through the hole in the pool above. So yes, it appears to be for a wall that will go there. Also, I didn't think anything of it at the time but all throughout the level below the pool, I see huge bundles of those pieces of "cinder blocks". So I believe they must be for the museum, somehow. I'll try to upload the video and post a link shortly, but I won't be able to keep it up for long... video from inside the museum is strictly prohibitted!!!!
Thanks for the info. Why the video restrictions? Do they not allow photos either?

Looks like there may have been a core pour earlier today. There was a concrete pump truck sitting near the southeast corner for quite a while.

According to Joe Woolhead, who is the official photographer of the rebuilding hired by Silverstein Properties, the Port Authority (which actually owns the site and runs security there) has gone kind of nuts in the past few months when it comes to photography. Even he was banned from the site for a week. I was only allowed to take pictures and video when no one was around, but had to promise that even then, I would only show them to family and friends and wouldn't post them on the internet. I don't know what reason they have for the restrictions, but them's the rules.

The weather looks to be much better today. I think the winds will be low enough so the cranes can start moving steel again. The final trident section for this level could be done today, which may mean a jump to the next (FINAL) level of the base section!

Looks like core steel is laying on top of the 5th floor near the south tower crane this morning.

Edit: My mistake, looks like just perimeter steel.
