That is the big question. Hopefully, they will change the angle as needed.

No they haven't. From when it started on April 13, to today, the camera has been locked down on the same exact view.

No progres i suppose?

They should make a platform for people who want to photograph the construction off this nice tower and give them a clear view with no stupid 3 Meter high fences.... :S

I decided to grab the 12:00 noon screenshot every day for the next 5 years or so. Then I'll edit them together in a time lapse movie and put it up on YouTube or something.

Here is the project so far:

I need to find some suitable music so I'm open to any suggestions. I will update the video every few days.

what the heck was this?

Nothing got done. All I saw was earth being moved around.

Man, these guys building the Freedom Tower are even slower than Pakistan's notorious construction time.

At a snail's pace

Is it just me... or are they in fact not doing anything? I've been following this thread since it started, and watching the webcam since I got the address... and the only thing that's really happened after the first few beams and two cranes has been... well... nothing what-so-ever! I don't understand what the problem is It blows my mind to think that after almost 6 years of planning and proposals, once work has started... it just stops

So does anyone have any explaination as to why this is? I know there has been funding issues, but at this rate it's going to take 50 years to actually complete, while the Chicago Spire has raced into approval and is mere weeks away from groundbreaking... I really hope that this project [WTC] will really get back on track soon! As much as I love Chicago and the Chicago Spire, I would really like to see NY and its Freedom Tower take #1 before Chicago gets there's done... but who knows...

It's looking good, though it's taken them quite some time to get in motion.

Unlike grass, 1WTC will be growing 14 feet a week in about a year; if you don't believe me, [insert random "Tourettes Guy" saying here].

That's the former Deutsche Bank. It took a big chunk of 2WTC's steel in its side and is only now being deconstructed.

It took a looooooong time for the insurance settlement to come through with the two sides arguing ad-nauseum about whether or not it was repairable. The decision to write it off as being uneconomical to repair was made a couple of years ago and it became another victim of the 2001-09-11 attack. IIRC, the planned new 5 WTC tower will replace it.

OOOOOH so they are tearing it down... very neatly... I thought that it was awfully strange for that amount of "casing" to be on a building being built
