For the 1,275th f***ing time, it's going as fast as any skyscraper would it's size. You'll see lots of action with steel and concrete in only a few months.

Really? seems like they are not doing ANYTHING they could have put up the other cranes already and start going up. How long did it take for them to start going up for the old wtc? Alot of the massive skyscrapers in China do not take this long.

Well they want to make this building secure as possible so they are going to build it well and not rush it. Also u say that buildings in china do not take this long. The Shanghai World Financial Centre started construction in 1997 now its 2007 and its still not complete. So obviously they do!

Alot not all. Usually when they have cranes set like we see in all these pics of wtc1 for the past months they start going up, but its been like this for a year for wtc1.

It's probably not the best idea to compare this building to one that was put on hold for six years

It took 4 years to complete the original wtc. "In 1970, construction was completed on One World Trade Center" And groundbreaking was 1966.
Freedom tower is "Groundbreaking April 27, 2006
Estimated completion 2009 "
But it seems to be going way to slow to be completed that fast.

For someone who lives in this country it depresses me that you would compare the construction rate of China with the United States considering that in China they work day night and weekends.

Uhhh, you obviously don't realize that many construction projects in the U.S. work 3 shifts 24/7

I'm not talking about completion rate. I could care less how long it takes to get topped out once it starts going up. I am just complaining that they are not doing anything. The base should be rising by now. Thats all i want to see is the base. There are also plenty of example of AMERICAN skyscrapers that are faster than this one.

The old temporary one is being deconstructed to make room for the WTC Transit Hub.

The problem is your basing your observation on a supposed megapixel (more like .7) camera that is somewhere around 700-1500 feet away to the actual construction height. You ain't going to see 'anything' from something from that far away at that definition.

Might as well 'suspend' this thread until something new happens. All of the 'updates' have nothing new.

so what is the reason for the delay?

the rubble was cleared years ago and the building approved years ago

then why isn't anything getting done?

I think the slow rat may have to do with the construction of the slurry wall and the earth around the site

Hmmm...maybe its those stairs that they dont want to move or something?! that excuse could buy them at least 4 more years

in all seriousness, I dont think the WTC reconstruction is going to move at a speed we're used to seeing. I think we're lucky enough to be getting such amazing buildings, on such a site; we should just accept the rate of speed.
