This is about the best news we could have hoped for right now. I'll take it.

I'm glad tower 3 will be built. It is my favourite design of the lot.

Pic by Lofter1 over at WNY.

The 16000 did it with about 10 feet to spare. The first of the third section of a corner node is in.

Lousy choice of words, Ni3lS! While it may not have been intentional, why not show a little class? It's really not that hard to do.

seriously I don't know why he was allowed to become a mod, it's not like he contributed much besides a few lists which weren't useful once search started working again. And I haven't seen him contribute at all since he's become a mod

I usually don't express my opinion on matters like this, but I have to agree with everyone's comments. This was equivalent to using a racial slur. An apology to the board is in order.

I agree that it does look a little odd right now though.
...it's definately crooked. The equivalent beams on the other 3 corners are level and in place.

Because Silverstein has the most to lose by a delay, and he'll be the only one that gains if they get built.

From the initial sounds of things, it looks like the deal hews a lot closer to what Silverstein wanted than what the Port Authority wanted. Assuming he can find tenets, which is iffy, it looks like we have another case of government socializing all of the risk and all of the reward privatized into corporate hands.
You are forgetting that the PA was WAY late in completing the excavation of the east bath tub! Had they finished on time, Silverstein could have gotten financing, since that was before the credit market collapsed. This really is the fault of the PA!

The arbitration panel ruled that the Port Authority's delays were irrelevant in Silverstein's ability to get financing. Whatever tentative financing he could have lined up would have undoubtedly fallen through when the real estate market collapsed, and we'd be in roughly the same position we're in now.

The problem is, and has always been, that no one in the private sector is willing to commit to financing speculative office space that the lower Manhattan real estate market neither wants nor needs for the foreseeable future.

I got infracted for my post by Ni3lS and threatened with a ban just to add insult upon insult.

Jan has been informed and the matter is in his hands now.

Anyway back on topic, 3 corner nodes in place, this baby is taking shape nicely. Musical crane time.
