I don't think there is an exact date, but Bovis Lend Lease has really sped up things sense they have taken over the de-construction.

I don't think it really matters when it's finished, anyway. It looks like there's a good chance of construction progress for T3 and T4, but even T2 is being put on hold until the financial market recovers and there is market demand for the building. And you can bet that T5 is well behind T2 it terms of priority.

So, who really cares how long it takes them to dismantle the building. Even if they dismantled it completely tomorrow, construction for T5 isn't even going to start for another 3 or 4 years, at least.

Is the floor area of the top floor the same as the 20th floor, but is turned 90 degrees?

It's smaller, and at a 45 degree angle from the 20th floor.

Part of the VSC will be located around the former Deutsche site. So it's vital that it be dismantled so the security center can be finished on time.

Deal For New Ground Zero Skyscrapers

Deal For New Ground Zero Skyscrapers

A deal to finance the rebuilding of New York's World Trade Centre site has been agreed and will lead to new skyscrapers at Ground Zero.

The agreement ends 16-months of wrangling between the port authority, the state of New York and developer Larry Silverstein.

Mr Silverstein signed a 99-year lease on the World Trade Centre just two months before it was destroyed on September 11, 2001.

He plans to build two new towers at the 16-acre site alongside a 1,776-foot tall tower which is already being built by the other parties.

Construction has begun on one of Mr Silverstein's skyscrapers but progress has been slow because of the disputes.

The developer's third tower will not receive public funding and so is likely to be delayed until the property market improves.

Mr Silverstein, the port authority and Mayor Michael Bloomberg on behalf of New York state, have agreed to pump more than £600m of cash into the project.

"This is a great day for New York. Finally, we're going to fill that hole in the ground," said Mayor Bloomberg.

"For a long time, everybody thought this was never going to get done. It is very difficult to get everybody on the same page, but I think now we are really making progress."

The port authority will finance two of the towers and other developments including the 9/11 memorial.

The entire site will be built to street level to avoid leaving a hole in the ground where the final tower will be constructed.

It will only be about half as big. If you look at the tower from north, south, east or west it looks the same width on top as on the bottom. But the top you see is the diagonal of a 141" square, while the bottom is the side of a 200' square. So the top is only half the area.
If you look at the building from 45 degrees off, it looks completely different. Then the bottom looks 282' wide and the top only looks 141' wide. (approximate measurements. Zen knows them down to the Plank unit)

That's progress alright.

Anyways, your photo doesn't allow hotlinking, so I'll just post the link below:

Not bothering to snip, then upload it

What's the explanation for those columns? They look large enough to be part of a tower themselves.
