i what are they going to do with this cocoon?

are they going to add new blue medh to every floor or just jack it up with the workers?

cool to watch and there is plenty of action but it is taking how long to get it all up?

Me too. I'm waiting for that, not just this tower, but for the hole WTC project.

...not only that, it's starting to look "denser" as work other than the frame continues.

Notice the core at the base. It's massive and contains many elevator tubes. How could anyone expect that to be slipformed ahead of the framing?

It has happened before with other similar towers.

The only difference is that most towers don't have a steel frame encased in concrete as a core, here the floors have to connected to the steel frame in the core before they pour the concrete core. And apparently there's no structural need for the concrete core to grow at the same pace as the tower.

Ciao! One question... Will the new tower will be taller than the twin towers? When will be constructed other buildings in the new World Trade Center complex?

I think I post this pic about once a month on one forum or another in responce to questions like yours.

Tower One well be FAR stronger than the Shard or any other "Core First" building. The reasion is the floors well be tied into the core with what amounts to a dovetail joint. Added to that is the fact that the floor beams are bolted to the core steel that is in turn surounded by rebar and encased in 3 feet of high strength concrete.

On buildings like the Shard the floor beams are bolted, or welded, to a plate cast into the core.

In honor of both the north and south towers Tower One well be as tall as the North Tower and have a visible band near the top showing the hight of the South Tower.

The Spire well bring the total hight of Tower One to 1776 feet.

Tower Four has reached the 4th floor and Towers 2 and 3 should start rising some time this year.

Reguarless of what happens with Silverstein and the PA the entire WTC site well be built up to street level in the next 2 years.

Pretty much the whole time the core steel is a couple floors ahead. The concrete is lagging a lot but the floors keep catching up to the core.

refering to www.wtc.com:

"Sixty-nine office floors will rise above the base to an elevation of 1,120 feet. Two television broadcast floors, mechanical floors, two restaurants, and an observation deck will be built atop these, topped with a metal-and-glass parapet marking 1,362 feet and 1,368 feet - the respective heights of the original twin towers."

I marked the markings () on this rendering. There might be better renderings, because here it looks more like a concrete parapet, but at least it gives you an idea of how it will look like.
