btw. I think the 30th floor is not that optimistic if you keep in mind that we talk about the official floors. floors 7-19 doesn't exist. hence it's not that much.
The 30th floor is still 30 floors high (about 320 feet). I remember the PA's timetable said that the podium glass wouldn't be finished until 1st or 2nd quarter of next year.

Maybe they start with the cladding in the 20th floor? I don't know. It's just an idea.

The PA's timeline specifically mentioned the "podium" glass to be finished early next year. So I don't see them starting on the 20th floor. They could skip the first couple floors at the very bottom however, that's not uncommon.

the beams up to lev26 are now 84.4m/276ft or about as high as former tallest structure in NYC-the 85m/281ft Trinity Church (1846-90)

crazy to think that Trinity was once the city's tallest! Just prior to the Chicago-NYC skyscraper craze I guess...

They dismantling the "old" crawler's platform on the east side...Looks like the tower will grow a little bit before they start with netting again...

From? It now is floor per two weeks. They first have to reach normal speed.

Doesn't seem a whole lot fast progress happening at this place.

I also think that they do about one floor per two weeks at the moment. Maybe he meant that they speed up to one floor per one and a half weeks.

30 pages ago or so it was said that a third crane is expected on the north side, but nobody knew when it will arrive. This quotation from scyscraperpage could be an indicator for a third crane arriving in june. They definitely have to speed up. With the current speed they won't make it to the estimated 55th floor by the end year.

Zen said a while back the he expected the steel to start out slow then speed up after a few months. I don't think the 55th floor estimate is that far-fetched.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Freedom Tower is a lot smaller than either one of the twin towers?

I didn't say it's far-fetched. I just said it's not possible with the current speed and I expect it to speed up in the next months.

It may be because the Freedom Tower is still under construction?

Here's a rough schedule I think is achievable. If they average about 4 floors a month, they should be just fine.

Start of 27/28th floor: 5/15
29/30th: 5/30
31/32nd: 6/15
33/34th: 6/30
35/36th: 7/15
37/38th: 7/30
39/40th: 8/15
41/42nd: 8/30
43/44th: 9/15
45/46th: 9/30
47/48th: 10/15
49/50th: 10/30
51/52nd: 11/15
53/54th: 11/30
55/56th: 12/15
57/58th: 12/30

1 floor one week is a challenging task. But I have even seen buildings completed faster than that. So it is achievable.
