Why the hell do they need 50 elevators in one tower?

That's a normal number for towers this height.

There are so many people in the tower who don't want to wait too long for an elevator that's already full when it stops on your floor.

Well I understand that, but I have to say that 50 is very much in my opinion. Burj Khalifa for example has a maximum of about 19 elevators from which a lot don't even go to the highest floors.

IMO first becouse WTC is wide to the top, and second becouse its fully office building. BK is mainly hotel, and residential. There won't be to many people wanting to go to the particular floor, especialy for the residential/apartments bit. And offices in BK are located at the very last floors which are the smallest ones so still they won't requaire a lot of additional lift capacity.

19? Make that 57

from wikipedia: "A total of 57 elevators and 8 escalators are installed"

The Burj does have only 19 elevator shafts in the main core, the 45 in the 1WTC can indeed be considered as many. But then again, the Burj isn't a full office tower and doesn't have the same tight safety regime as the 1WTC. They could have done with less shafts, but not as few the Burj.

Ok, thanks for your explanation! I also have the idea that it had something to do with safety reasons. No wonder the construction isn't as quick as other skyscrapers, with such a complex core and also the staircases at the corners et cetera.

There are about 100 elevators in the entire tower, only 54 of them show up on the ground floor rendering.

As was stated, it's an office tower and they need that many to handle "rush hour".

Only the five service elevators run the full hight of the tower.

Also, there is an error on the rendering, J bank does not stop at the ground floor, they are express from the B2 Observation deck lobby to the restaurant/ observation deck.

Don't forget the Burj has double Decker elevators so that doubles the number of cabs. Also I'm not sure about size between the two installations but that concern only change capacity very quickly.

Looks like it's really growing now. Glad to see that it's on it's way to being finished.

Hi Msradell.

The BK has only 2 double deck shafts - OB 1 and 2. The top cabs start on the Ground level and go to the OD on level 124. The bottom cabs start on the concourse level and go to the office skylobby on level 123. Office traffic then take BO 1, 2, and 3 down - or BO 4, 5, and 6 up - to the office levels.

Back OT.
This project really seems to have hit its stride.
Good to see.

Look at the picture a couple posts back. It's about 1/3 the way up on the SW corner. Been that way for months. Someone said it was made wrong and eventually will be replaced.
