this tower and other 3 new towers and new park is a far superior complex then original towers.
sorry but true.
lets leave the past and look forward to future.
this complex is a monument to the fallen on that horrible day in 2001.
This is our way of saying screw you.
look what we can do!

1 WTC will be an amazing sight when finished. Hell, I think it's an amazing sight right now!

I also now agree that replacing the twins would have been a questionable plan.

There is one missed opportunity on the site (IMO) The granite walls are a nice idea in the memorial, but imagine a clear wall (like you see in modern aquariums) around the entire waterfall. You could stand below ground and look out through the cascading water at the towers footprints.

Why do people not like the 1WTC? It looks like a sparkly diamond to me. I like it.

I think most people well grow to love it.

I remember when the Twins were opened, most people hated them. "Big ugly boring towers !" But they grew to love them.

Giving away my age again.

It's because the whole site is HUGE...The scale of the tower is lost in this HUGE space...There are some photos on this forum on which you can actually notice how big all this is...When you look at the cranes, it doesn't seems so big...Because even cranes are HUGE...The best way is to spot the workers...But it's not so easy...Because it's HUGE...

I'm in agreement, hopefully ill get back to NYC this time next year to see this thing going up IRL! Last time I was there (August 2008) there was nothing to see over the fences becuase all of the worlks were still underground. This has really come a long way and still have so much more to come.

DinoVabec nailed it, the scale of Tower One is sorta lost in the overall scale of the site. This tower is just as massive as one of the Twins and well be just as high. The reason it looks sort of small is because it is on the edge of a 16 acre construction site in the heart of lower Manhattan. No where else in the world is there such a huge area under construction in the "heart" of the city.

By heart I mean wallet. I always thought of Manhattan's heart as the ESB. As for it's soul, that lives in it's people !
