One of the largest air conditioning units in the US being installed at WTC

The district cooling is presumed to lower by half the air conditioning costs, however overhere most of the new residential (and commercial) towers (and communities) are cooled with the same technique and residents are actually faced with higher bills then what residents of older towers with conventional air conditioning have to pay.

I don't know where's the problem: The technology is viable if the price of the electricity is very high, there's a bad management problem for the local providers over here or maybe the costs rises exponentially with the load increase making the technology not viable in very hot weather conditions.

Are these used elsewhere in NYC? Anyone has experience?

Just thought people should know that the RGZ website, while not updated in a while, now seems to have been "hacked" by a script kiddy or something. I went there last night and the page displayed some kind of wierd message about being hacked by some group, and at that point I immediately closed the site's page for fear of getting a virus or exploit. My antivirus program didn't detect anything, and I don't know if it's just a bad attempt at trolling or if there was some kind of site security breach, but the site should probably not be visited until some brave soul visits and determines it's back to normal.

Right now there is a new info on RGZ from the owner of the camera/website-admin saying that he is in new york at the moment and looking for a new position for the cam. Furthermore he promises to take and post new pics/videos..

Sad that they didn't complete the current two levels in two weeks. I look forward to the next two!

You expect too much. The last two levels took 7 weeks. I would be happy if the current two levels don't take longer than 4 weeks.

At the moment I'm more concentrated on the activities in the lobby. On the hq cam it looks like one of the walls in the lobby has been finished. I hope this is a good sign and most of all I hope we see some cladding in august or september.

I say they should...

Move tower 3 to the old duetche bank site and build a WTC1 twin where tower 3 was supposed to go.

In that first pic, you can really see the columns that will form the shafts of light from this render:

Great Idea, but I would say move WTC 2 instead of WTC 3.
WTC 1 as is (with spire), and new WTC 1 twin (without a spire) in #2's spot.
Both must be skewed 45 degrees to mimic the original twins.

(why didn't they ask my opinion before???)

That's brilliant! I'd never noticed that before. Is this purely an aesthetic feature, or does it have anything to do with the safety features being implemented?
