They should have built the

The should have built it taller; perhaps the roof toping out at 1776 feet with a spire taking it to 2100 feet to represent the 21st century.

Also...They should have built the upper floors as strong as the base and incased all the beams in reinforced concrete. And they should have used in sturdier and thicker beams. This thing should have been built to the last the age of all ages!!!

You should watch Life After People sometime. Amazingly, older buildings last longer than newer ones.

Also, just looking at the tags, when did "kill all americans" show up?

A lot of threads in the supertalls section are flooded with troll tags. Personally, I think the tags section should be disabled altogether, I don't see any use for it. Has anyone here ever used the tags for anything?

i don't think they were tagged by muslims, i think haters did it. because muslims don't say it "allah akbar" .... we say it "Allahu Akbar" ...
it was disabled in the makkah tower thread.. there was "Islam=terrorism"

What an excuse! Extremists are what they are to destroy and propagate their agenda. The attack was motivated based on the hate for Americans, we known that to be from the view that American society is perceived to be Christians' rather than the Muslim. However, this building is been constructed proves the strength and beauty of love.

I am already imaging the lighting of this building in a clear night sky with brilliant colors.

Excuse or not, what the heck is that crap still doing there!? (allah akbar, kill all americans) someone!.. clean up on aisle three!
This is a great thread, I've been viewing it for a while before registering to SSC, It would be sad to see it spammed with discussions about arabs, as like what they're saying is actually important or something.

In my opinion it's not a worthy successor of the Twin Towers, maybe if they would have made it taller or if they made Freedom Tower 1 & 2 positioned similar to the old WTC, kinda of a modern replica.
I know some people wanted to build 2 new towers almost similar to the old ones but it failed ( I would have liked that really ), did anyone propose a 2nd tower similar to this one?

hm, why they build this tower only 1776 feet hight(with spire, without spire it will be less hight) it isn't so tall among modern supertall(look at China's , Far East's supertall)

Aaaaaahh, you people "cryin' " about new twins, or how dissatisfied you are with the new complex, you just don't understand architecture, modern architecture, you don't understand new york city and you don't understand what this complex means to the city and its citizens...

Well...Isn't New York mostly about mixed people and, of course, mixed ideas and feelings? I, for one, am not cryin' about new towers. I like the new design, and I think that whether it were for the twins to be rebuild or the Freedom tower, IMHO it looks or would've looked great anyway you take it Clearly this project is awesome, the towers, the huge fountains.. a true project and memorial in the same time that suits New York.

Of course some people are "cryin' " about new twins, especially the people that haven't got a chance to see the old ones. When I was small like 6 years old and I was watching different movies like.. Home Alone for instance, and when I saw the towers I think you can guess what my biggest dream was in that moment, and from then on Till shit happened and I realized I'll never be able to see them cause the towers are gone. So cut us some slack! I seriously understand what this complex means to the city, and I share this feeling. But you too have to understand what the Twins meant to people before, which was probably equally important. Cheers

I've never met anyone here that uses tags.

Because in the USA they build quality towers. I'm not saying there aren't great ones in Asia, HK has some of my favourite towers in the world but the most 'new' skyscrapercities in China build very tall but most of them lack quality.

Why does it always have to be taller? It is freakin tall and besides that a fantastic design just like the rest of NY's supertalls that are U/C or proposed.

At lest American buildings look like real ones, not like some sci-fi sticks on steroids...

I lived in New York before 9/11/01 and the Twin Towers were a symbol for me among others if not my favorites.
Since I lived in Midtown Manhattan I wasn't always over there, but I had other monumental buildings just around the corners.
When I was a kid I remember seeing some advertisements with Marlboro and a image of Manhattan from a helly over the harbor and that was just months before leaving for New York.
In my first day in New York I remember going to a store on 23rd or 14th ( can't remember exactly ) street to buy some basic stuff and remember it was just around the corner from 5th Avenue and at the far end the Twin Towers, so it was a monumental first view of them and was fascinated to see them .
For me the "Twins" are a eternal symbol of the city whatever someone would say, I would have always preferred to see them rebuilt or if not, a modern version of them as a 2nd Freedom Tower just like in that render waddler quoted. In a way, when I will go back to see the place I grew up in, it would be a very weird sensation to watch that image without them even if of course, anybody would say "I could have been used to from tv, internet, pictures" since then. 9 years and I can't confirm that.
