Currently it's at the 38th floor 426' 8" or 130.028m. to top of steel, plus about 4 feet for the column splice. Each 2 story lift well add 26' 8" to that.

so in 6 weeks it will be 506 odd feet making it taller than the verizon building, then by the end of the year it should be right around 100 feet short of 7 wtc at 641.2 feet

Doing a very crude search on skyscraperpage that means by the end of the year it will be about the 65th tallest building in NYC. I've only just realised that the off set vertical steels at the top are part of the change of shape in the building to octagonal, duh!

WTC site: french evening news

French report shown yesterday evening on first channel TF1:

http://videos.tf1.fr/jt-we/ground-zero-un-chantier-complexe-6065016.html

'Certaines tours ne seront jamais construites' (means 'some towers will never get built')

At 1:20s, the dude is talking about a third tower that will eventually never see the light, saying they will just pour a concrete screed to possibly allow a building construction by 2037 or 2047...*

Do you guys know what 'third tower' he's refering to...?

* I've written down your compatriot's speech as it's pretty much covered by that of the french journalist...

They well probably start testing in the spring, fully operational months before 9-11-11.

I made several of those, including the WTC complex, the Chrysler, Woolworth and ESB a few years ago, they can be downloaded and printed out from links available elsewhere in SSC. Others use regular office paper, I used Wausau Exact Index 110 cardstick. It takes some extra effort and a good table edge to get the cuts and folds right, but the results were well worth it.

My WTC model (it is a VERY GOOD ONE, BTW, well worth the effort to assemble - it even accurately replicates the 2 meter difference in height between the two towers) graces the back-bar at the Old Bavarian here in Appleton. The owner is a first-generation immigrant from Germany and *LOVES* the USA.

In case nobody has noticed, the WTC website has gotten a bit of a makeover.
