I'm very disappointed with the process to rebuild WTC. If they continue postponing... One day they couldn't afford to rebuild WTC complex since the construction costs are skyrocketing lately... That is embrassing for WTC complex to fall way behind than the rest of projects that are happening around the world. Please REBUILD WTC NOW NOT LATER!

Of any project I've always been certain that FT would be built, no matter what the cost, and especially since the office market upturn. The building's cancellation would be a national embarassment. Don't even think about it.

What delays are you talking about. There have been no delays to date since construction started last year and if you have looked at the webcam recenlty, formwork is up around the core so it can start rising.

Cool N.J.C.

The render portays quite a lot of natural light. So different to expectations due to the heavy fortified base.

I say they get rid of that wall over there, not really inviting...looks very corporate to me for a building that will also include many tourist activities.

Really is a difference in different times compared to the original WTC lobby:

Perhaps it is to give a solid, strong & secure feeling, due to the recent unfortunate history...and yes, the original WTC's lobby areas were full of light. Yamasaki intended it to be cathedral-like.

^Fair point. I just get the corporate, any office tower on 5th Ave feel from it, my expectations are something special, unique for such an important centerpiece for the city and the site. Perhaps my expectations are too high. Of course, you have to consider the needs of the tenants too.

Oh, SOM quote on the base...

Quote:
SOM's TJ Gottediener thusly: "The lobby sheds light into the memorial pool. And the front door is celebrated."

"Front door is celebrated"? lol I wish my front door would be celebrated.........by dates

The original's ambience was graet. Remembered so well. The chrome tubs were always dire though.

yea, but it won't be for long. And by the time the families of 9/11 agree and stop protesting and causing a big fuss, and they start building it at a fast and steady pace, there may be a supertall on the westside taller then it , maybe taller then the chi spire, but i doubt the governer would like to have it. Who knows??

I doubt higher than the CS.

Nice render, I'm kinda like the secure feeling it gives off, but I also think it could make it a little cramped. I can't really determine how I feel with just that one render.

I also thought that there has not been any delays at the 1WTC site since construction began...maybe I'm missing a bit of info?

There has been no delays. It is just people in this forum overdramatizing news that is posted here.

Also just noticed that Port Authority posted pics for June half a month late:

No delays but you can even admit this whole process has dragged on long enough. I don't expect it to rise fast either, as it's gonna be taking extra safety precautions.

New 7 WTC itself took 4 years to build and it's a much shorter and less complicating design.
