In the previous pictures, you can see how they have put the "cladding hangers" on about 9 or 10 of the lower office floors

Will it rise so it can reach the top - it doesn't look from the photos like it can at the moment ?

If not, what is its actual role - if it can't lift steel to erect at the top, and can't reach much of the walls to be used to erect cladding... Is it used to lift to staging points so the two main cranes won't have to lift all the way from ground ?

- as an aside, I'm slightly suprised that this is going up with only two main cranes, doesn't seem very many for a building of this size. Having said that, the steelwork seems to have always gone quickly and the delays so far seem to have all been on the concrete side of things, so maybe two cranes is plenty.

Yes it will...They'll construct more of the steel way on the side so it can climb..This crane is for concrete contractor..It lift rebars for concrete so those two cranes at the top can work with the steel...

The cladding and glass will be put on the building sometime this month or next month. Man, that thing is going up really fast! The Visitor Center is almost done also.

At 480' tall, 1WTC is now more than 1/3rd its final height. (1368'/3 = 456'.)

They still have to put the floors between the elevator banks in and the separator beams for the elevator running rails. The beam pockets can be seen on either side of the wall openings for the floors, and you can see the pockets for the separator beams on the left and right walls.

The floors are to be concrete and the separator beams are steel.

PS: That shaft well have 10 elevators in it, 5 on the left and 5 on the right.

Why does the concrete look so uneven?

Because there is no floor between the "core halves" either, yet. It's all going to be cast at once. Also, no one is ever going to see it in the finished building so it doesn't have to be pretty, just strong.

I posted a larger version of the pic in my last post..

...yes you are expected (by some) to look through all 16,820 posts before asking a question, as it may have come up before!
