They also made the columns of the "erecting steel" thicker so they can now go up to 10 floors above the core concrete.

Can't wait to see some cladding put up. This could well become my favourite supertall yet! If only we could get something like that here in Toronto...

Yes it is. As far as other pictures of WTC 1 go, unfortunately the day I visited ground zero was my museum day, so I did not have my camera with me >_< I will pop through my pictures again and see what else I got. Otherwise on my flickr I have some other pics from my NYC trip.

What you mean, you could imagine buildings of other cities. Because I only see New York buildings, some photoshopped like upsight down and all, but not from other cities.

Btw is this from the Inception movie or something? Buildings in that movie looked like this too.

Perhaps it's Photoshopped

While Google earth might seem like a silly tool to use to compare distance relationships, I believe that the perspective capabilities of Google Earth raise questions regarding the photo's integrity.

Ever seen these moment-of-shock scenes in horror movies or thrillers where the character has a very panicky moment and the camera does a thing where the room seems to expand? The only example I can think of right now is the scene in Event Horizon in which Dr Weir is in the maintainance shaft and the lights begin to go out. That effect is simply done with the lens, it can do such things, it can make objects seem further or closer apart, you don't need digital trickery for that.

1. There are definitely other buildings and other parts of cities in there. The lower left is Chicago because you can clearly see the Chase Bank Tower. Also, other parts of New York were mashed in there because you can see Madison Square Garden next to the Flatiron.

2. Nope, not from Inception. This is just a great image created by someone probably for fun.

The photo is real, but tricky. Actually, the farther is the photographer from the place he will take the photo, the bigger the things on the background are. You can try this with Google Earth also, try to move farther and farther and there will be a moment where WTC will be only a few pixels, and the buildings behind will become bigger. Here's an example:

Back on topic, when are they going to install new steel??
