Does anybody know why the height is 1775 now? What happened to those beautiful twelve inches? I sure miss them.

I wouldn't put much stock in the headline, it's just roundoff error. Originally the height was quoted 1776 feet (for obvious reasons). Converted to meters, that's about 541.3 which was rounded to 541 which is what all the meter people have been quoting forever, and so probably someone converted back to feet from 541 meters which comes back to 1775 because of the round off error, having forgotten that this will be exactly 1776 feet for symbolic reasons.

The work won't stop in the winter. The NY Times article i read earlier in the year said they are supposed to reach ground level next spring. Than after that you will see the start of the building of the actual tower. Theres a ton of interconnected projects going on as you know. With the Memorial, subway, Path station all being worked on at the same time. I could only imagine how complex this must be. But they did it the first time back in the 1960's. In that case it was harder, they had to invent the slurry wall and move tons of dirt.

True. But this time it psychologically heavier; every time they disable a sewerpipe or a manhole they find human remains of the victims of 9/11

This is for everyone: If all you are going to do is bitch, moan, and cry about why it's taking this tower so long to rise, then don't open this thread. Go bust a nut over the Burj until then. OOOO....THX 4 THA UPDATES!!!111

Dumbass people.
If you don't like what some people are saying, then don't read their posts, b/c nobody is forcing you to do so. The reason why there are people complaining is b/c of the slow process. The only thing that is going forward is the new pathway and the transit hub, while the rest is pretty much the same. On a sidenote, cut the personal attacks you said at the end.

The tower at the end looks like a mixture of Freedom Tower and SWFC but alot shorter.

^ That's pretty much the exact shape/design of 1WTC. SFWC not so much lol.

It's a 45° twisted square on top like on 1WTC, SWFC is a much different design based on arc-of-a-circle cut all the way up 2 corners.

David Childs is known for ripping-off other designs...it's not anything new. He's a corporate architect that appeals to his clients.

Don't tell me what I can and cannot say. If every other post is 'Oh..so slow' and yadda yadda then it gets really old. That's like on the Burj thread where every post is 'Thanks for the updates.' It's silly and pointless. This building is moving at the speed of a skyscraper it's size.

That is just theft of this design. I would sue him if I were the WTC architect.
