I was just told by a contractor at 5 Star Electric, who is working on 1WTC, that the whole project is not slated to be done until 2037.. Is this true?

Either you're lying or he's an idiot.

The cladding of the tower is awesome. Looks like it's top-quality to me. This is gonna deliver some quite nice shots in the near future.

You mean Holland as in the Netherlands? Than you are a bit exaggerating to say the least.

This criticism would rather suit the Shard imo...

Wow, it's snowing so much in New York now. It would be nice if someone took photos of the building with snow around.

actually the new weather reports from weather.com and weather.gov, they indicate as mush as 19 inches of snowfall will hit our area, and i only live 40 miles from the world trade center site.

so this snow storm might stop the progress of the tower 1 progress until wednesday. i will keep you all posted.

I live 25 miles west of Manhattan. Snow falling at 2 to 3 inches an hour, about 6 inches on the ground, wind gusts up to 45mph. (As of 7pm Sunday the 26th) It'll be Tuesday or Wednesday before the site returns to full productivity.

Hi all, azn_man12345 here. Ive been interested in architecture and skyscrapers for about 3 years now, and Ive been following 1WTC/Freedom Tower pretty closely throughout the years.

Ive been on SSC for about a year and a half now, but never made a profile or anything.

So I told myself once 1WTC was double the height of the tallest building in my city, Id make a profile. As of the December 14 update, 1WTC was 614 feet tall, although by now its probably higher. Since my tallest building is only 325 feet, I guess theres no better time than now.

1WTC is one of my favorite skyscrapers going up now, and Im so excited to see it done, and now, I can follow it even more closely then before.

If anyones ever looking for me, Ill probably be here, or the Shanghai Tower thread.

Thank you guys for having me and Ill try my best to be a good part of the SSC community and family

Current conditions (Central Park): Heavy Snow Freezing Fog, 22 °F (-6 °C)

Current forecast for overnight: Snow and widespread blowing snow before 5am, then areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow after 5am. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 20. Wind chill values as low as -1. Very windy, with a north wind between 38 and 40 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches possible.

And for NYC as a whole:

A BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST MONDAY.
* HAZARDS...HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS...WITH CONSIDERABLE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT
TIMES.
* ACCUMULATIONS...15 TO 20 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS
UP TO 2 FEET POSSIBLE.
* WINDS....NORTH WINDS OF 25 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH ARE
EXPECTED THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

That's nasty. I imagine such wind gusts could potentially tear apart the cocoon and cause other damage, and it'll drive snow well inside each floor. This same storm gave me about a foot of snow way down in central NC.
