Finally new vertical steel around the core this morning. That takes them to the 54th floor, now 640 feet high.

I was wondering since tower 1 is at the 54 th floor and about 640 feet, can some one show the diagram or a picture of a finished tower 1 and compare it to what it is now at its current height. Thank You.

If state bails, 1 WTC scores

Buy Steve Cuozzo

All indications are that the marketing team for 1 World Trade Center will have nearly 600,000 square feet more to offer prospective tenants -- a rare instance of what's usually bad news for a landlord being good news.

Sources familiar with the Port Authority's fast-rising tower said the likelihood of the state Offices of General Services going through with a long-discussed lease there are increasingly remote.

Insiders cited an "expectation" it won't happen. We'll go farther out on a limb and say it's as dead as the Giants' playoff hopes, which just fell to mathematically zero.

The OGS "lease" was announced three years ago, along with a slightly larger one for the federal General Services Administration. Neither deal has been completed, however.

Now, Condé Nast has a letter of intent for 1 million square feet in the 2.6 million square-foot tower -- which just passed the halfway point and makes an arresting sight, especially to anyone walking west on Fulton Street. Several financial tenants are also kicking the tires.

Too much space leased to government offices automatically cheapens a commercial building's image. The last thing "iconic" 1 WTC needs are government workers hogging more than one-third of its floors at subsidized rents higher than public entities should be paying, but still far below market.

The PA, its partner Douglas Durst, and the leasing agent, Cushman & Wakefield's Tara Stacom, all declined to comment. An e-mail to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's spokesman, Josh Vlasto, was not returned.

The federal lease is still on the table, sources said. And the OGS lease is not formally dead. But a new governor committed to saving the state from fiscal collapse is not likely to look kindly on expensively relocating an agency whose tasks include providing state employees with parking spaces.

The Condé Nast talks have changed the dynamics of leasing at 1 WTC. The OGS would have moved into floors at the bottom of the tower. But Condé now wants the floors -- meaning the bureaucrats would have to go higher, where the rent would be higher too.

66th and it will pass Woolworth.

72nd passes Beekman.

76th passes 40 Wall.

78th passes American International Building (tallest in Lower Manhattan).

101st passes ESB (tallest in NYC).
Wouldn't it still be slightly shorter than the ESB even when it's topped out (pre-spire)? Isn't the ESB is nearly 1,500 feet tall?

to the top of the antenna yea but that doesn't count in official height, it's roof is 1250 feet. the 101st floor of 1WTC is like 1254 feet or something, the 102nd being 1266 (or 1271 over the lower entrance of vessey street)

1WTC will also pass 4WTC by floor 79, Carnegie 57 by floor 81-82, plus the top of BOA spire by about floor 92

If I remember Zen's blueprints and comments, I believe the roof is the 105th floor at 1,334 ft 8 inches high. The top of the parapet is 1,368 ft. But that could be a different height (1,373) depending on where you measure from, N or S side.

You are correct in quoting me and the official hight from any side of the tower is 1,368 feet to the top of the parapet and 1,776 feet to the top of the spire.

Regardless of the officialdom and what ever criteria they come up with Tower One is to be 1,776 feet high and the top of the parapet is to be 1,368 feet high to memorialize the original North Tower.

The roof of Tower One is about 30 feet below the top of the parapet, in order to hide all the cooling towers and whatnot.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is this parapet?
Are there still floors and cladding on the parapet?

A parapet is a wall-like barrier at the edge of a roof, terrace, balcony or other structure. Where extending above a roof, it may simply be the portion of an exterior wall that continues above the line of the roof surface, or may be a continuation of a vertical feature beneath the roof such as a fire wall or party wall - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can tell just from these pics as the tower rises....it's going to be ultra-fabulous. This is going to be an incredibly amazing tower.
