That crane is meant to lift construction materials to the lower floors so the two cranes above can concentrate on erecting the steel frame.

I agree, pull shades would look bad on it since it is all glass, but since they are going for Gold LEED certification it'll probably be some kind of automated shutter system for the entire building.

The one official render we have of the interior of a regular office floor of 1 WTC does appear to show some kind of indent on the ceiling for shutters/blinds/what have you.

But we all know who can answer this for certain... *fires up Zen signal*

I wonder if the wall was designed that way because glass all the way to the floor would be a little unnerving for some. Or, just to give you a place to put your foot while you're staring out the window with a cup of coffee when you're suppose to be working.

Good question. I know in the originals they had a similar ledge there with vents for the air conditioning or heating.

I'll go with the coffee hypothesis, though.

Hello there, just found this group and thought you might like some of my photos. I've got a pretty good view of 1WTC from my balcony in Jersey City.

This one was taken yesterday. More to come. Maybe some video if I can capture something happening.

Well, all I know is that pretty soon, I'll have an unobstructed view of the construction, then the topping out, and then the grand opening.

I agree that 7WFC is a nice building, but right now, it's in the way.
