I hope most if not all of the base glass is in by then too.

Never the less, excellent photo shop there Draegen.

(For future reference, the west side construction elevator tower will stop at the 38th floor. Internal elevators take over from there. You got the east side one right, it's going all the way to the top.)

I think the PA said the podium glass won't start until early 2012. A shame.

I'm curious to see that glass going up. After all, that is what most people see at street level. I'm not really fond of random cladding, so I have to see how it turns out.

It would be pretty cool to have two of these instead of one.

Possibly?

A second $3.2 billion 1WTC isn't going to happen. It's difficult enough getting what's already on the drawing board built as it is.

Alas you are correct, that is what the report says, too bad.

Never said it would happen today. Possibly a project for the distant future.

The twins concept was rejected a long time ago, besides, building another tower on this position will:
1. Mess up the symmetry and balance of all the WTC's towers
2. It would require more space from both east and west sides, a tower of this magnitude needs some distance away from the memorial, and another distance away from West Street, for security reasons.
4. Building another tower here would require the removal of steel from the Museum, re-engeneer the slurry wall (the slurry wall will be part of the museum), and remove some oak trees.
5. It's definetely not a good idea build a skyscraper just a few meters from the public of the memorial, for security of pedestrians and cars, they would close part of the memorial while it gets built.

Don't want to dissappoint all of you who still wish Twin-freedom-towers down there, but this will never happen.

Thanks for providing some real explanation. Now can anyone tell me why this tower has no outdoor observation deck?

well to my knowledge i could be wrong but the reason why its inside and not outside is becauase of the high levels of radiation coming out of the spear and other electronic devices thats going to be on the outside of the roof area of the tower. because if one stays to close to those radiation rays then one might get cancer and other illness that comes from thse waves of radiation. i hope i answered your question on the observation deck issue.

So what about the people that will install all of this radioactive equipment? and the people who will maintain them?

When the top of the tower is being worked on or when the comm devices are being installed, they will not be on, or at least enough of the devices will be shut down so that they wont fry the insides of people too close to em. It's the same way the the ESB.
