I love this shot. All it does is demonstrate progress down to the very single sheet of glass that goes on there by the day.

With all do respect, but the the people that install the spear and other radioactive objects, The radioactive machinery are still off while they are being installed. Now interms of the maintance people, They have the radioa cative machinery turned off so that they wont be harmed by all the radiation.

As for kingsc,Its not that the people would jump off the roof of the tower because they would put fencing all over the roof section if it were an out door observatory deck like they have it on the empire state building and on the top of the rock at rockefeller center. But we dont need that on Tower 1 World Trade Center cause the decking is on the inside.

I hope answered both of your, questions.

Can someone clear up the number of floors for me please?
The topic title says 108. Wikipedia says 105. And that article about reaching the halfway mark says 104 floors. So which one is correct?

IIRC, someone said earlier that:
104-Top of parapet
105-Highest usable floor
106-7-That little ring on the roof
108-Top of ring

Im not sure, but I think its something like that. So which one would be the "official" floor count?

The Public observation deck floors will be on the 100th and 101st Floors. then the Skyline Restaurant on 102nd Floor. so the 102nd floor is the highest floor allwoud to be visited by the public, then 3 more floors for the mechanical which will then put it to 105 stories heigh. so to answer your question the building is going to be 105 stoies aka floors heigh to the roof top.

The roof is the 105th floor as you say. There is a catwalk above it that is counted as the 106th. Then three more "floors", 107, 108, and 109 counted in the communications rings.

It's simply the number they came up with. Floor counts aren't always accurate. Donald Trump calls his Trump World Tower 90 stories tall. When in fact it only has 72 floors.

A marketer could make the case that if you count a typical story as 10 feet tall, then 1WTC is 177 stories tall.

And there's one little platform inside the spire listed as 110th on the prints..

Be patient, my friend; STR is starting to work on the Memorial Plaza, designing in 3D Max isn't that so easy. Just enjoy his work!

They're probably spraying on fireproofing in those area and don't want the wind to blow the stuff away. The same for the floors that are 5 to 6 stories above the cladding.
