Those are great photos. The ones with WTC7 and the ESB really give a perspective on where they are.

The city of New York is not in charge of re-cladding skyscrapers.

I know! Since 1975 this building has ruined every picture of Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan on the background. It's in some kind... how do you call it? ... disturbing!
Anyways, it's part of history of architecture, so lets just enjoy how 21th Century dominates Lower Manhattan.

Is the Verizon building an office building, or is it one of those places that is mainly crammed with electronics? There is a similar, seriously ugly building in downtown Baltimore, although it is only half the hieght, also full of electronics.

I think I might be the only person on the planet who likes the Verizon Building the way it is now. It's an architectural statement from a different time period, a different school of thought. It'd be like if someone proposed recladding the Empire State Building with a tinted glass curtain wall like that of Seagram's back in the 60s. If Verizon were reclad, it would become another boring, homogenous blue glass box, which could literally be in almost any city in the world, from Shanghai to Shreveport.

It would still be better than what it is now.

No, it'd be another sterile, bland box. At least now it has some individuality, a true New York sense of intimidation about it. Now the other former Verizon building on Sixth Avenue, that definitely needed a reclad.
