your information is worth nothing here, if you don't say, what the source of this information is...

How can they suddenly increase it that much? I thought it was almost finished?

BMXican, No source except the new drawings that have been submitted by the consultant company "Dar al-handasa" and the height has been increased to be 565m as I just said above. This is 100% right info.
Johan, Tower B (Al-Marwa), Tower D (zamZam) and Tower A (safa) almost finished but other towers are still under construction. including Tower H (Hotel). Tower H (Hotel) is the heighest tower and only the podium was finished (17 floors). Last edited by DreaM1981; December 15th, 2006 at 12:45 PM. |

Some of the hotel guests at the lower floors won't even see a thing with that kind of density...
The spire seems a lot taller so i guess they only revised that for the new figure of 565m

great184, the podium of the hotel is a part of the big shopping mall.
The hotel will start from the 17th floor (podium is not included in the tower). This means guests will be able to see the holy mosque clearly. |

design is straight out of the wet dreams of a totalitarian communist leader in the 1970's..
but if they wanted to totally overpower the mosque, they did a great job.

there was a castle called "Ajyad castle" in same location but it has been destroyed to build abraj al-bait project.
That is why the design looks like a castle. |

dreaM1985, do you live in Mecca? The main reason no one talks about this project is because we don't seem to have anyone to take regular update pictures, so no one really knows what is going on with this project. It's the same sort of thing with the 500m+ tower allegedly going up in Korea that no one ever talks about. Anyway if you live there and could supply pictures that would be wonderful.

"What a terrible thing to build a big tower next to the mosque" and "No it looks great and people can look down at the mosque from it lol" and "Doesn't anyone have any construction pictures or news about this?" |
