Blogmacau.info - 14 found guilty of election bribery

Glad to see this thing is being straightened out in Macau

14 voters who supported the nomination group of Legislator elected Chan Meng Kam (陳明金) were found guilty of election bribery.

Seven of those who were found both guilty of election bribery and retention of the Voter's Cards of others received prison sentence between nine months and two and a half years.

The other seven were fined between MOP 10,800 and 30,000.

Four other people were acquitted.

Meanwhile, three were also sentenced to suspension of exercising political rights for four years.

Blogmacau.info - Man jailed for election bribery

A man who attempted to bribe voters to vote for legislator elected Leong On Kei (梁安琪) during the Legislative Assembly Election in 2005 was sentenced to 20 months in prison.

The other five people who proivded him with their Voter's Cards were also found guilty, and had to pay MOP 27,000 fine each. The remaining 12 were acquitted.

The case involved a young person reported to the Commission Against Corruption that a man had asked him to collect Voter's Cards to vote for Leong in return for MOP 500.

The Commission later arrested 18 people on election day.

The fourth suspect, Cheung Wing Kai (張永佳), insisted furing the trial that he only promised to pay voters "orally". He was found guilty for retaining other people's Voter's Cards.

Leong On Kei deserved to go to jail as well!
