I'm okie with the design. Though simple, it must be built with quality facade like a luxury hotel.

The podium part seems to be the most interesting part for me.

KL doesnt need a skyscraper that looks like downtown new york. every city has its own skyline and it is such a sad thing to see more of this ugly boxes dominating our skyline. Malaysia is an independent nation but this hotel with many other developments around KL proves that we are still not independent as we are not fully utilizing our multicultural heritage. there are so many design aesthetics of our heritages that can be used. but instead we are seeing more miami-like condominiums and new york-like hotels in Malaysia. such a sad thing.

Interesting to note that more and more owners are opting not to have basement parking!

Dijaya Corp to launch projects with GDV RM3.5b
By Joseph Chin of theedgeproperty.com
Friday, 27 May 2011 15:26

KUALA LUMPUR: Dijaya Corporation Bhd reported net profit of RM18.54 million in the first quarter and announced projects with gross development value (GDV) of RM3.5 billion over the next two years.

It said on Friday, May 27, that its earnings jumped 489% from RM3.15 million a year ago, boosted by higher profit margin contributed by its new property development launches.

The earnings were underpinned by the new launches including Tropicana Grande golf-fronted condominiums and Casa Tropicana final Block E condominiums at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort as well as Pool Villas at Tropicana Indah Resort Homes.

Dijaya added the 3Q earnings included net gain of fair value adjustment of RM5.16 million arising from marketable securities and recognition of RM4 million in liquidated and ascertained damages compensated from a contractor.

Its managing director Datuk Tong Kien Onn said that given the current set of results and the good location of the company's current development, he was optimistic Dijaya would continue to post an improving set of results.

"The company also has projects under planning to be launched over the next two years worth RM3.5 billion in GDV.

"These projects include W Hotel and Residences Kuala Lumpur, serviced apartments in Tropicana Danga Bay, Tropicana Gardens commercial centre, Tropicana Avenue business and retail centre, Tropicana Bayou mixed development and Tropicana Cheras bungalows, semi-dees and linked houses. With all these projects on the pipeline, the company is poised for growth."

design ok...
i wish its 6+ storey.

buildings around PTT shud 6+ storey baru lah beri impak pada KL skyline.

kalau tak selamanya kena label overrated.

any building around KLCC cannot 'dwarf' the twin tower. takkan tak tau kot? you menangis air mata darah pun tak boleh buat apa2. (which is good). and i don't know who want to label it 'overrated'. overrated what?

60+ storey wont dwarf PTT
...it is not that there are plenty of spaces left to construct 60+ storey buildings that will leave PTT slightly drown....

I'm inclining with Xneo. PTT is the golden area, where the heights and design of the building will definitely enhance the whole KL skyline and not compete with PTT.

In term of overrating, I believe Xneo meant for overrated KL skyline (which is contributed by surrounding building with bland design or architecture)...Xneo to confirm

yeap.

overrated because KL skyline look like a '3' needles from far. .
shang hai..hong kong..they have more than 1 supertall.

need a balance skyline lah : tall->taller->tallest

now, tall->tallest....

at least a few 6+ storey supertall will give a big impact to KL skyline.
tak sampai 70 tingkat pun..PTT tak terjejas punya.

jakarta, manila dan bangkok bangunannya lagi besar. KL je bangunannya halus2. lebih2 lagi banyak bangunan apt n kondo berbanding bangunan pejabat.

KL banyak apartment because it's DBKL policy to increase population living in the city centre rather than merely a 'workplace' and deserted after office hour.

PTT (400m+) Four Seasons (300m+) + Tradewinds (300m) + Lot K could make KL skyline balance in da future la kot...tpi btw!! can't stop thinking that ....you guys pernah fikir tak pasal KL itu hilly city tak macam flat city land yg lain so perspective surface dia nak jadi macam ni >

sebenarnya bangunan di KL yg tinggi 200m+ yg terletak di tengah bandar pun banyak kalau banding ngn bandar lain...

when we talk about skyline,we are talking about a photography shot from high angle.u cannot see a perfect skyline from the ground, unless the city is by the sea.i realized that most forumers here more concern about how KL looks like through the camera lenses.its what u see when u walk along the street that matters.its not a big deal to hv a low rise building around ptt actually.as long as it looks nice it should be ok.further more, tourists want to see the street n they only glance at the high-rises once in awhile.

i think you hit the nail right on the head...

it's the perspective. it's also opinion. and most of all, it's just subjective.

look at dubai...man, i love to pick on that over-hyped, over-rated, hell-hole in the desert. if you look at the main drag parallel to the shoreline, there's no breadth or building sprawl. it's a one-dimensional town!

but KL, there's another story. it's under-rated yet a lot more matured. (that's where we want to keep it, so that the clueless tourist comes along and get a big surprise.)

oh yes, one more thing, not that i don't like the desert...if given the choice of dubai and another not-so-famous city in the sonoran desert but a great city nonetheless -- phoenix, arizona -- i will pick phoenix any time, no second thoughts.
