Here's an image for today - a nice aerial shot of Brentwood from Atis547's Flickr stream. There's a large (3MPixel) version of it on his stream too. I guess those are the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in the background.

All the pictures are very good more than that. I love Los Angeles so much but I haven't visit the city...know a lot of it from tv :-)

There are so much beautiful sides of LA but there are so many bad sides...so many freeways..bad air...

Is it right that Angelenos drive in there cars rather than to walk

But why?
To walk is great and good for the body...
In other city the people walk like in New York or Chicago

You have a very good looking subway or light rail. I like the different looking stations, is so great and unique.
Is it right that downtown are boring after sunset?

I know that Los Angeles has beautiful places and I love the city and I dream of to visit very soon. But for the world the city has no face. Is more a mix of many cities

please excuse my bad english

Here's my image for today, taken from Stacysmoon's photostream on Flickr - this one is from the narrow park at the top of Beverly Hills near Rodeo Drive (think it's called Beverly Gardens). I love the way this one captures those deep, warm LA skies.

One more for today - this is an unusual view from behind the Hollywood sign on Cahuenga Peak. You can see that the sign is wrapped: the words now read "SAVE THE PEAK". There is an ongoing campaign to raise $12.5m to save the peak from housing development. You can contribute at http://www.savehollywoodland.org/learn/the-peak.php.

i bet more angeleno's would walk if the system was convenient enough for them.

downtown is boring after sunset only if you don't know where to go or what to do there.

i think the face of our city that the world sees is the hollywood sign, LAX, or a random 12 lane freeway. too bad, because i wouldn't trade the rest of this place for anywhere else.

Here's one of the LA sunrise, taken from a moving car. Quite a nice perspective, this:

Back to the pics, here's a nice one of the Hollywood Freeway, clearly taken from the Hollywood Bowl overlook off Mulholland (a classic photo spot!). From .mv's Flickr stream (bigger version available here http://www.flickr.com/photos/micgovu...21483/sizes/o/).

The comparison conversation is always fascinating but lets get back on topic here.

Further discussions regarding comparing metro areas should be in a new thread. Someone can create it and copy these posts. i will delete them from this thread by tomorrow.

Here's one from Topanga Canyon, looks like the Parker Mesa overlook, looking south towards Santa Monica, on a relatively clear day (I've seen this view totally obscured by fog, smog, the marine layer etc. in the past!)

EDIT: forgot to mention, this one is from LexyTaylor's Flickr stream

One more, taken from a series of timelapse photos over Glendale showing the skyline, from iSeeMooi's Flickr stream. There's a beautiful video of the full timelapse sequence here.
