Here's a nice little thing - a hand-drawn map of LA, reimagined through the movies! It was drawn by artist Geoff McFetridge and is featured in the latest edition of GOOD magazine

Another interesting map - apologies that this is not a photo, but it's still very relevant to this thread in terms of the "incredible" nature of this fine city...this shows the population density by race/ethnicity of LA. The map was put together by Eric Fisher based on 2010 census data. The image is hosted on flickr. I find this fascinating! You can pretty much make out the major landmarks - the Santa Monica mountains, Griffith Park, downtown, the Valley etc.

![]() ![]() That pic of Santee Alley is interesting. It almost feels like you're in a foreign country (somewhere in Mexico/Central America), especially when you're there. It's not exactly a tourist spot by any measure or a place you'd go for high-end fashion bags/accessories...but the last time I was there, I saw hordes of European and Asian tourists shopping there; I guess they couldn't resist the cheap knock offs of Versace, Louis Vouitton, Chanel, etc. Anyway, that's just an observation... |

Looks quaint, doesn't it? This was taken from the Arroyo Drive overpass so, even though it's technically the 110, it's really the old section of the Arroyo Seco Parkway.

Here's one from HKPuiPui27's flickr stream, taken just off Montana Ave in Santa Monica. It's done using a faked "tilt and shift" technique, which kind of makes things look like miniature models.
