Good video showing you how spread out Los Angeles is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJnxUb9q0YI

Showing 4 difference skyline city centers all spread out, why couldn't they have just been connected?

I moved to Long Beach recently...but when I lived in LA proper, I would go over to the Baldwin Hills not infrequently for a walk...only once in while is Mt Baldy visible behind downtown though, on account of the smog / haze / clouds. But on the clearest days one can see straight through to the Big Bear area (best chance for that is a nice winter day, with snowpack on the peaks).

One of the most beautiful trips I've taken to LA in a while.

Here's a lovely thing: a montage of shots of LA at night. Lord knows who put this together, but it's very pretty, with some of the iconic landmarks featured. The 720p HD version adds a bit of glory.

Here's another one I found on YouTube - again, you can watch it in 720p HD. It's a long (hour and a half!) video consisting of aerial shots of LA. Just turn the sound off or the dinky-dinky music will send you insane.

I hope you don't mind the inclusion of these videos in the photo thread - normal service will be resumed shortly!

Finally, a lovely video from Ross Ching, showing spookily empty roads (this was done by filming each scene for 20-30 mins, then going through frame by frame and pasting bits of empty road in until the roads are completely empty of cars, allowing the surrounding areas to play normally...hard to explain, but it works really well!)
Again, this one is viewable in HD

Running on Empty (Revisited) from Ross Ching on Vimeo.
