Pinkfloyd, those pictures are gorgeous! Second one is lovely with Century City; makes LA seem "denser". XLucky4lifeX, I love the first photo. I'm a big fan of "dense" looking cities.
I'm always wondering what the Downtown LA skyline would've looked like if the buildings at Century City weren't so far away but located downtown. Does anyone know where I can see a photo of LA's downtown skyline with Century City's skyline photoshopped into it? I remember many pages back in this thread, someone inserted buildings into the skyline to give an idea what it would look like... |

I got to visit LA again at the start of this month during a tour of southern California. As promised, here are some photos from my trip (all taken by me).
1. This one's for Milquetoast, for all his contributions to this thread: image hosted on flickr ![]() 2. Dawn over downtown, taken from W Pico Blvd, just south of Beverly Hills: image hosted on flickr ![]() 3. Similar to the last one, zoomed more on downtown: image hosted on flickr ![]() 4. Dawn over the mountains: image hosted on flickr ![]() 5. Another one taken at dawn - I like the light in this one, the palm trees, and downtown visible in the distance: image hosted on flickr ![]() More to follow, when I get around to processing/uploading them. Enjoy

Thanks, Tones! I've got to get your camera ![]() Also, I see you have no problem getting up in the morning! Last one is slightly better than the rest but all are great- where you at?

It's a wonderful time to be around the city. It's quiet, the air is cool, the city is just coming to life, and the light of dawn looks great. Most of the above photos were taken around the junction of S Beverly Drive and W Pico Blvd - I took some photos on the street, then managed to sneak onto a rooftop to take the final one in the series above. Another advantage of being up at dawn: less people around to notice mildly illicit access to otherwise restricted areas ![]() Couple more for you: 1. Sherman Oaks - Corner of Ventura & Van Nuys: image hosted on flickr ![]() 2. The LA River from a bridge in Reseda. Man, I LOVE the LA River! I saw a group of nefarious rapscallions running into a storm drain just after I took this photo - I caught the dastardly ruffians on video, actually. image hosted on flickr
