I was looking at that 2nd to last picture and all I could think was.. wow they actually took a picture of downtown that has no parking lot/structure in it.
I wonder how much people on here try to 'crop' out the bad stuff about LA when they take pictures. I know I'm guilty of it... and obviously people do it in every city. but seriously the same little street corner can be depicted so many ways in LA, depending on how you frame it. I've heard LA was pretty well known for 'framing'... But we should learn from that and realize there are so many new angles to our city that we are just starting to realize. I was up in a few downtown skyscrapers today for my job and I looked out and the city looked like something completely new--images from our skyscrapers of the surrounding city are so rare... every picture of LA is either from the hills or an airplane/helicopter, but there's a strange relatedness everything takes on when you have the context of being in a high-rise. There are also many neighborhoods in LA that I don't think have even begun to be described with photos. Like in Carthay circle, there are modern skyscrapers right behind single-story spanish ranch homes, and I have to say I still don't think anyone's been able to catch the strangeness of that area in a photo. Anyway, good going sesshin, whoever you are. |
